What is this part? I found it under the mower deck but can't find it on any part diagrams for the deck.

Looks like a deflector from a snow blower (says a guy from Texas that has only seen pictures of snow blowers).
It's part of the deck adapter kit. It bolts in under the deck, just forward of the discharge chute. It helps direct the flow of cuttings into the collector. If you're not using the vacuum/collector you don't need it.

That must be it! I have no clue why it was installed when I didn't have a lawn/leaf vac or collector of any sort. I ended up taking it off and ran it fine without it. Thanks so much! I'm still learning so much about this stuff.
Yeah, I thought I took a photo before I took it off, but had already flipped it over after removing it and didn't want to lift it again. It was stupid of me not to.
Count yourself lucky! We got the huge blower to put on the front, which I absolutely love! I live in NH, so we get plenty of the white stuff.
