Not all mixer drivers are equal either. We had a Loflin driver roll his mixer (fully-loaded) on a job in Kernersville years back. Butch was pissed!

Correct - as soon as the ground dries up I will split it and and roughly stack it in open rows to air dry. Come late summer I will put in the section of wood shed that I emptied this last winter. My shed holds two winters worth.

Then I got some two-year wood, and realized how wrong I had been!

If I’d have bought the clamp on edge tamers (legit brand) I wouldn’t even take off the tooth bar at all. Mulch, dirt, gravel…… I leave it on. I built a loop to the driveway a couple years ago. Layed down the base 4” aggregate and reclaimed asphalt with the bar on.

Shoot I go 3 years out. Lots of oak up here and that takes a while. I split on the large side also,

Yep. Burns longer. Small stuff goes up the chimney too fast.

I like mine AT LEAST 4 inches, better is 6.

But if you are burning green wood, that's not going to work, so most people think it doesn't work.

The wind finally slowed below the howling-around-the-corners speed, and I sprayed for weeds. The first crop of dandelions already went to seed and disbursed.

I can see most of my driveway again. In the woods any steeper sections facing S are bare. Trees are acting like big heat rods even on N facing pitches. A Robin showed up. A few Mourning Doves have arrived. So....

I removed the snowblower, greased and oiled all fittings. It now sits on a pallet in the garage waiting for next season. I hope. I didn't remove the chains off the tires. That would double jinx and ensure a late season dump. Chains off on Tax Day!

One thing left to do. Almost made it through a winter snowblowing season without picking up a single stone. My last or was it 2nds to last use of the blower ended up throwing a bit of gravel. Frozen hard ice surface sheared off with rocky gravel stuck to it as the blower sucked it in and either tossed it into the woods or dumped it forward for a repeat trip into the blower. Scratches left in the impeller housing are mostly black. Assuming primer layer? For the more grey silver scratches I'm assuming down to metal? Does Rustoleum spray paint need a primer layer?

I received a load of cull logs yesterday and today I worked on bringing them down to the staging area by the house. The logs were dropped off about 2/10ths of a mile at the end of our driveway on the private road.



I was able to move them all today. I only had to cut one into two logs, it was about 18' long.

Final task on the reclamation of the old auger. Storing it in a manner that provides safe and efficient installation and removal. As many of you know, three point augers are infamous for being a PITA to remove and install.

After some thought about various methods to prop it up sitting on the ground, decided to hang it from the shed roof framing. Took it off, put it back on, then took it off again just to make sure it worked as expected. Hanging it allows easily moving it a bit in all directions which is quite helpful installing it.

Took longer than it probably should have partly because I started with a vague plan and used stuff that was already on hand.

Continued to work on clearing up the old corn crib area.

Got most of the building removed from the site.



Still need to work on getting it leveled so I can then bring in the rock before we get the connex delivered.

During the project of moving the old building pieces to the burn pile, I noticed a shiney bolt in the pathway. I got out and picked it up and thought this isn't going to be good. Started looking over the tractor and found that the bolt was from the rear tire rim. Well, I figured I was done for the day, no way I would find the washer and nut. Looked around just a little, didn't see anything, so put the tractor up and started to head to the house. Walked past where I found the bolt, about three feet past that I noticed a washer. Well, at least I won't have to buy a washer now. Walked about six feet more, there was the nut.



Went back to the barn, put the bolt back on the tire and finished hauling the stuff to the burn pile.

This weekend will break out the torque wrench and go through all the bolts on the tires to make sure nothing else is loose.

I will have to admit, I had never checked those bolts. (see picture below)



Why I didn't think about checking those, I have no idea. Was really good about checking the others and making sure they were torqued. Lesson learned and all it cost me was a few minutes of time, so I was fortunate.
