Ok, the nasty snag has been taken care of without any real drama. I chose to use the truck instead of the mini. I just didn't want to take a chance hurting the mini. I cut some nice 13' saw logs out of it. They were pretty heavy.

here she be:

white pine snag2.jpg

it had landed in the crotch of a sturdy Oak.

I chose to do some (careful) relief cuts and snatch it off of the broken trunk.

white pine snag5.jpg

hooked it to the Ram

4wd low and off she came. No struggle.

done. I'll dig the stump out (or grind it) later.

I did wear a hardhat while cutting since there was another branch stuck in the crotch. A little wind and 20 mins later, I saw that it was on the ground.

Went on to cleanup my milling driveway. Lots of millings in the grass from snow removal. Smoothed off the driveway and finished for the day just before the rain hit. All in all it was a pretty good day with the exception of my eye. My wife couldn't look at me while eating dinner since my one eye was really bloodshot. Must have broken a blood vessel or something. Scared myself went I went to look at it in the mirror. Yikes.

Don't dare to take my plow off yet - we got 10" of snow in the last two days. I plowed the 6" we got Friday night but thinking of just treading on the 4" we got today.

Great job on the take down!

Don't know if it is how you got yours but I get those bloody eyes frequently from sneezing hard.

Eye Dr says it is common.

I delivered my friend's new (used) L47TLB to him in Kettle Falls, WA on Friday afternoon/evening. We spent a few hours yesterday going over all of the features and then by late afternoon Mike wanted to flip a stump that was left over from a tree that fell on the house just over a week ago. He had a contractor come in and get the tree off the house, and cut it up into logs but the stump was left looking a little ugly.

I wrapped some chain around the stump, added two more 20ft sections that I use with my trailer and then I pulled it back over using the the L47. It was as easy as could be and Mike's tractor has already completed a job that he would have struggled to do without it.

My friend has so many trees down on his property that I just don't see him clearing them up. Overwhelming would be an appropriate word with 30 or more down. He says that it's not good firewood but I'd burn it. It wouldn't make much sense for me to take my 16ft dump trailer over there and haul wood back. The time and the fuel cost would be prohibitive.

I walked down the path shown below last night, and less than five minutes from his house he has this view.

Put my new pivot bushing on my snowblower since the original one fell off due to my error when putting it back on.

Also found the cotter pin from it on my driveway now that the snow is melted off it. I have high hopes I’ll find the actual pivot bushing once it all melts if I found the pin! That or I’ll hit it with the mower and send it to my neighbors property.

Yesterday I put the BH77 on the L3901DT to clean out part of the ditch along side of our driveway. I did about 100' with the small bucket. Was doing really well till I hit a piece of bluff that I couldn't chip any of it away. I always wondered why the guy that put the driveway in didn't make the ditch deeper in that area. At least I was able to get the ditch deeper the rest of the way. Broke a lot of rock off the bottom of the ditch.

That sounds like a heck of a project I’m not looking forward to the up coming mowing season but it’s just around the corner :geek:

Yep. I do remember doing two cough/sneezes that were pretty violent yesterday am. That was probably it.

Well, we got a little more snow last night and some drizzle this morning. Plus the weatherman said rain Wednesday followed by 10 degree cold. So I decided to plow this morning rather than making a mess treading on it just to have it freeze. I have no more hard packed snow road. Down to semi-soft bare gravel. So I used the tractor plow which is lighter and more controllable than the truck plow.

Cleaned the deck, greased it up and changed the blades on the BX belly mower yesterday and discovered a couple missing bolts that secure the pulleys to the spindle. The two remaining were a little loose. Replaced them all with new bolts, lock washers and nylock nuts.

Lesson learned periodically check the tightness of the mower bolts.

This afternoon I got three of four implements permanently set up for either the QH10 (MX) or QH20 (M6060) to make for quick and easy swaps. I had to cut down some bushings so needed to tack a long and short bushing together so that there was enough length for my chop saw to grab onto. Then I cut the short section to length, separated the two bushings by slicing the tacks, and cleaned them up. I initially tried welding two bushings together followed by cutting the new bushing to 4" in length but it was more trouble that it was worth. It's a pity we can't buy "sticks" of bushing material that we can cut to whatever length is desired.

So the lower lift pin shown below is a CAT 2 and CAT 1 pin that EA uses on many of their implements. Land Pride uses a similar pin on the RCR1884. Obviously they don't design for a specific quick hitch, but with a CAT 2 to CAT 3 bushing it all works out, along with a CAT 3 to CAT 1 top link bushing of course.

I like this set up since I only pick them up with a QH and I don't have to mess with any bushings ever again.

Well I am glad it went easily but I was really hoping for a more eventful story (à la Runs with Scissors style). But you didn’t even get a chainsaw bar stuck!

Speaking of pita bushings - I have a CAT 1 top link cylinder pin and a CAT 2 clevis on the winch. So I needed a split bushing. It took three hands to get it all together and it was easy to lose the pieces when dropped. I brazed on a couple washers on the bushing ends to make life much easier.
