My front loader has a leaking cylinder that is leaking pretty bad to the point that the tractor is very low on fluid. Do i need to use Kubota fluid to fill it back up or can i use something cheaper like the stuff tractor supply sells?

Also should i just drain what is left or just try to guess how much to put back in?

The leaking cylinder was fixed once before by the local dealer 4 years ago they used a seal kit going by the invoice. The leak is right where this red arrow points to.

I don't know if i should take it back to the local dealer or find a local shop.

Don't use cheap fluids, your just asking for trouble.

Why would you drain what's left unless it need a fluid and filter change.
There is no guessing required, just fill the the proper height on the dipstick or the window.

Either take the cylinder to a hydraulic shop and have it rebuilt or do it yourself, they are very simple to rebuild.

Trying to find this seal kit they reference a serial # do you know where to find it?

The tractor serial and the one stamped on the cylinder do not match.

LA402 loader.

The tractor serial number has nothing to do with the loader.
There should be a cylinder part number stamped on the cylinder barrel.

The loader serial number will be on one of the towers usually the right.

It's confusing the way they have this there must be 6 different ones.

The cylinder is stamped 7J040-63011.

I only see a 7J040-63010, which apparently has been superceded by 7J045-63010. In my neck of the woods, the hydraulic shop would overhaul the cylinder for $15 more than Kubota gets for the kit.

Yeah i wonder how much a hydraulic shop would charge compared to the dealer after looking at the receipt from last time they used seal kit 75545-63600

The opposite side should use the same kit right? It's not the one they did i was wrong is the other side.

Same kit ~$84 at Kubota. My shop usually charges $100 P&L.

UDT - standard old fashioned “oil”
SUDT - semi-synthetic “oil”
SUDT2 - full synthetic “oil”

using SUDT2 is usually what is done now since it is what most dealers carry. But your tractor probably doesn’t “need” it but it won’t damage your tractor either. Your wallet might get damaged though.
