Took the mower deck off, put the turf tires, loader and BH back on in preparation for snow/sleet removal this weekend. Definitely not the usual use for my BX here in NC. I suspect I'll be missing the heated cab, snowblower and blade that the tractor came with when I originally bought it...

Same here. Put the generator back on the three point and bucket on loader before moving the L to our house. Going out to fill the diesel cans this afternoon. As usual the long range forecast of a bunch of snow is firming up to be a bunch of ice. I kind of like snow once in a while. Sleet isn’t pleasant, but not terrible. Freezing rain is kind of like a hot girl who’s on work release from prison: beautiful, but amazingly destructive. I hate freezing rain.

Yup, generator and tractor are filled and ready to go, with extra fuel for each. Definitely not a fan of freezing rain, so I'm hoping for some snow initially, covered with sleet later as that makes for a lot easier clearing than just ice. It's supposed to be windy right after the storm, so I'm really hoping for no freezing rain at all. We've got way too many trees for that crap.

Moved some snow with the pusher and used the blower for the first time this winter. Got something going on with the hydraulic deflector but it was too cold and dark to mess with. Probably a Saturday project.

Got more snow cleared with the snowblower. Really enjoying being able to move snow without going and back and forth trying to move the edges of the driveway back. I’m thinking about trying to find or build something to put on the back of the tractor to stop myself getting covered with snow. I’m on a hill and it is always windy and always changing directions and swirling so I end up covered in ice by the time I go back to the garage. One other thing, does anyone recommend any ROP lights? Apparently there is a connector under the fender that you can use to plug them into. Would like to get some that can swivel to either face both directions or just one. Would be good to have if I’m busy after work and I can’t get out before sunset.

I'm stuck in the city and they're in the country, you're welcome to borrow them. ;)

The chute rotator still needs work, with the well going dry that didn't happen this year, but the lift linkages now have all their parts and the cylinders got rebuilt.

Near blizzard conditions today pretty much a whiteout combined with 6+ inches of snow. On my lunch break I decided to give the driveway a go and now that I’ve been able to use it on more than just a couple inches, I gotta say, it is 1000x better than the rear blade I had. I’m not getting pushed around anymore and the snow isn’t piling on the sides making the driveway more narrow.

My only complaint is that I need a better coat setup and some snow pants preferably insulated. I also need to figure out how to seal the ski goggles I use better when I have the gato/mask on. My breath just condesnes on the lens. That wind switches direction and suddenly I can’t see 1ft in front of me LOL.

Yesterday used the L3901DT and grapple to move a couple 60" logs to the splitting area. Got a little warm yesterday, got up to 53F. Don't really like wood that heats my twice, but need to split wood.

Living in the woods, the wind or breeze never seems to blow in one direction. Only on the totally dead calm days do I stay snow free. I wear an old set of foul weather gear over the clothing. Covered and sealed completely from head to toe. Old repurposed ski goggles. Balaclava under the hat which is under the foul weather gear hood. I stay dry, but sometimes can feel the cold from the snow spray. Years, decades ago I looked at some aftermarket "screens" that attached to the ROPs. Problem is I didn't and still don't have a remote chute controller.

On the old NH. Mounted a flood (wide beam) LED lamp mounted on the ROPs pointing backwards for dark conditions snow blowing. Real simple to wire up. NH had an available connection and I purchased a light that had a built in on and off switch. Could have used a forward mounted ROPs light. Bucket blocked the headlights unless in low position. The rear light worked fine. Guessing spot beam would not have been as nice. Retired. No need to wake up at 4-5AM and/ or clear after coming home from work to clear snow in the dark. No plan to add a ROPs light to the BX.

Reading all thses posts about snow moving i actually did move snow today for several hours. I guess my two cents about working outside in the winter is this. A tractor cab isn't as good as really good(I'll use the word relations) really good 'relations', but I can tell you it got to be a very close second. No more freezing. Or picking the day to work outside when the wind isn't blowing. If you survive this winter come spring if you can afford it add a cab. You'll be so thankful you did.

I put the battery in a maintainer for a while and attached the edge tamers on the bucket. Current forecast is ~12 inches over the weekend.

Been watching the weather all week. Looks like we won't be avoiding our share of winter storm Fern. Looking like 6-9 inches of snow with a hefty chance of large amounts of sleet and possibly freezing rain to top it off. Not excited for the snow, even less excited for the ice. Got the generator out and making sure it runs, and I'll get the edge tammers on the bucket and rear blade on this evening.

Yesterday moved a couple logs with the K3901DT and grapple. This is the bigger of the two. It's over 80" long.

Blocked it up and split. Made a nice pile of firewood.

Looks like we might get some snow over the week-end, so I need to put the bucket back on and put my back blade on the 3PT.

About a decade ago I purchased couple sets of Defender branded (house brand from Defender dot com) sailing foul weather gear. Horrible as expected for use while sailing. Heavy weight polyester with some form of rubbery waterproofing. Like wearing a plastic bag if zipped and velcro shut tight and just a base layer for clothing. Bit like fouled goretex or e-vent or any other "breathable" waterproofing. Bib bottom with suspenders and zip with velcro seals at the cuff and zip for easy one and off. Top is just like a raincoat with a two way zipper and velcro seals on zip and cuffs. Nice for snowblowing. Bad if generating metabolic body heat unless you unzip. Inexpensive back then. Couple sets at sale price was less than $50, maybe $40. Mine has grease stains and snoot dribble. Haven't every washed or care what it looks like.

just checked the Defender web store page. They no longer stock. Probably too cheesy, cheap, and no brand label for the "yahhttttts".

My Grand L has CAT 1 upper, and CAT 2 lowers ... I purposely Bought a CAT 1QH as have lots of CAT 1 attachments ... I wanted an adjustable hydraulic top link, in order to get the length I needed, I had to order a CAT 2 on both ends, so I used bushings to size it down ... Since the lower part of the QH needed CAT 1 pins to hook it to the tractor, I just used bushings to fit ...

Why in the world somebody decided to make the hooks on the CAT 1 QH CAT 3 size is beyond me! But use the "mushroom " style adapter bushings on all my attachments on the bottom , and a couple of sleeve style bushings up top ...

You know my pain, then, LOL. I kinda gave up and just adapt as I go with new attachments. My last purchase was an IronCraft (formerly Titan Attachments) offset flail mower. A QH is useless with that because the pin pockets are too close to the housing for the hooks to go in. But I got a good price and only use it a few times a year, so I don't complain about it too much. I'm thinking the Pat's Hitches might present the same problem as the QH on that.
