well... gotta say I am not surprised.

today Ford announced they are killing off their all electric F150.

next to come is a plug in hybrid version that's supposed to be a combo electric-gas job.

so 2 systems / weight / etc... going forward as they concluded all electric is a failed experiment?

The lightning sure became obsolete quickly.

Electric vehicles are alive and well.
Ford just had too many failures with the F150E and others.
Ford is not on the best path for electric powered vehicles.
I don't even think they can pull off a hybrid truck without issues.

What???? Really?????

Whats not to “love" about an $80,000 truck that can’t even go 200 miles towing a trailer? ;) 😂

The CEO found out that EVs won’t work for all use cases. I think hybrids cover more use cases.

Ford CEO this morning on TV said they are taking a U$20 billion hit!

on a company that only has a market cap. of U$54 billion I am surprised its not a company killing thing. If I woke up one morning and had to decide to write off 40%+ of my worth I would be devastated.

wonder how GM / Stelantis / etc... going to weather this storm as they are even less strong financially than Ford.

I'm all for making motion to make less impact on environment but I sometimes wonder how many affordable houses, disease that could be fixed, hungry people that could be fed, etc.... if better decisions could have been made on how to spend "social" monies.

$20b / $100k per small affordable track homes = 200,000 small home * 4 people per family = 800,000 people housed from this one companies follies alone. Imagine if this math was made across all companies??

I think Ford thought they were going to be forced to build EVs, so they tried. Now, with the administrative and tax changes, they don't have to do it anymore. No idea how the other companies are going to downscale EVs or even if they are. We'll see.

Of course, EVs use power and power has to be produced some way. :D. I'm not sure how much the environment is saved especially when India, China, and other countries are polluting like crazy. I don't know how much is true, but it seems much of the green energy was about producing "green money" for the companies that were getting the investments/contracts.

On the plus side, I feel like Hybrids were always the right way to go for most people. Sure, EVs work for a lot of people. Hybrids can work for pretty much everyone.

Had they had a regular cab-short box I'd have bought one..but all they made were 4 door-baby box version.

The BIG issue is IF current F-150E owners WILL be able to get a battery 8 years from now !!! Pretty sure fed law says car companies have to supply pars for 7 years ?

Ford has a big problem in that the plant that stamps all of their aluminum body panels caught fire, super duty and f150 production is probably going to take a hit because of this. It sounds like they are allocating what they can get to the models that have the most volume, definitely not EV's.

The worst part is, the plant caught fire a second and third time before it was even cleaned up from the 1st one.

Well. It would go 200 mph in 4 seconds.
But apparently not a big seller.

I wonder how all the owners that bought these vehicles feel after hearing about this announcement ? If I owned one, I would be totally pi$$ed ! How much of a depreciation hit did this announcement make for all these owners ? Would the dealers even want to tale them back in as trade ins ?

GM just laid off 1400 workers at their multi-billion-dollar Ultima battery plant. EV future ain't looking too great.

I tend to agree with you, but the old saying, "There’s an ass for every seat.” might apply here.

Some poor Schmuck will buy them I’m sure…….Hell, it might even make them “collector trucks” one day😂

Not me though……A truck that would turn my 4+ish hour drive to the cottage, into a “3 day journey”, aint worth a “warm cup of urine" to me.

But I also don’t believe that we are "running out" of fossil fuels neither, so theres that too…..;)

F-150E owners probably lost 40% of their purchase
Ford was retooling Oakville for E vehicles, then re-retooling for F250/350 G+D pickups.
They'll decide that's not a winner and close the plant permanently, take good any 'good stuff' back south of the 49th.2028-2029 is the timeline I've been told.

Did the taxpayers provide rebates for this junk? Did Ford get tax breaks to build this scam? If so, will we taxpayers get our money back?:whistle::poop:

Good riddance.

Until we have a completely new battery technology, EVs are a stupid fad.
