Hey, I'm new here, but I recently bought a 2011 B2630 with a loader and a backhoe. I took the backhoe off, so I could use the rear PTO, but it's not working. The mid PTO turns on fine, but when I engage the rear one, I hear a click, the shaft turns a bit, then the tractor stalls. Any idea what the problem could be? I called a mechanic, and he said it could be a bearing. Is that an easy fix, or just better to send it to a shop? Thanks in advance

Did it do this with the backhoe mounted?

Sounds more like it is not engaging the gears completely.
I would check the linkage to make sure it moving into gear fully.

When you say the tractor stalls - does it definitely stall as opposed to cut out (i.e. does it bog down then stop, or does it stop cold like someone cut the ignition?)

If you try to engage the PTO when you're not in the seat the tractor will stop. You have to lift the seat up, which disables the safety switch. Not saying you don't know this, but some people don't.

Yes if it's in between gears it could very well do that.

I push down the seat safety switch, and I can turn on the mid PTO like this. When engaging the rear, if I slowly move the lever, it starts to bog down, and I can pull it back, causing the tractor to fire up again, but past a certain point, it shuts down.

I've got the PTO selection lever pulled back as far as possible, but I'll see about removing the linkage, and trying to pull it back further right outside the gearbox. I had to remove the plastic cover with the labels on it to pull the lever back all the way, so it's quite possible something shifted over time

Hmm. That is almost exactly what a safety switch cutout does. If I get off the seat it starts to stutter, if I sit down again it keeps going. Does it put out black smoke like it's lugging, or just stop firing?

It puts out more smoke, but what makes me initially think it's not a safety switch is that the mid PTO works just fine.
