Hey guys, been reading these forums for years and now its my turn to ask for help. Welp, here it goes.......
I own a Kubota L4150-DT and ive been a proud owner of this beast for about 7 years. Since day one there's been a hydraulic warning light flickering on the dash.
The hydraulics were working fine at the time but i didn't want any problems so I figured I'd do a oil/filter change just to be safe. After the oil/filter change the light was still flickering. Sometimes it'd stay on for a few mins but mostly it'd just flicker. This has been going on for the entire 7 years that I've owned it. Well about a week ago, I was grading my driveway and I was probably pulling more than i should've been with the back-blade. I went to lower my back-blade and the "Position Control Lever" felt like it was stuck. I had figured there must be a little rock or something stuck in the linkage, so I just gave the lever a couple downward taps with the palm of my hand. About the third tap with my palm the lever went all the way down. I had lost all resistance in the lever. I pull lever up & down and there's nothing there, it just moves freely. So the first thing I noticed was my back-blade wasn't going all the way down. I had figured i busted a pin in the linkage but that wasnt the case. I had my boy move the lever back and forth while I closely inspected the linkage. Everything is working as it should from the lever all the way up to where it goes into the 3pnt hitch. The next thing i checked was my loader hydraulics and the loader still works as it should. Loader goes up & down, bucket curls forward & back. Sitting in the captains chair & scratching my head, I light up a smoke and noticed that the flickering warning light wasn't flickering anymore. It was staying on and not going away. I do not have a way to test the hydraulic pressure in lines right now, but I will by the end of the week. One more thing, I can pick the 3pnt hitch up by hand and it will free fall back to the specific spot (about 4" from bottoming out). Just going with my gut on this, I'm thinking its the "Control Valve" inside of the "Hydraulic Cylinder Body". I was hoping someone could help figure this one out for me. Any advice will help. Thanks in advance.

What is this "hydraulic warning light"? Thats a new one on me. Whatever it is it sounds like something you should not ignore.

Off the top of my head your 3pt failure sounds like a problem with the internal linkage for the control valve. Mechanical not hydraulic. The behaviour of the lift arms is normal.

The L3 models of that time have an "easy checker" in the dash that indicates when the hydraulic oil filter is clogged (or nearly so). I'm assuming your L4150 and my L5450 have similar parts - although the main pump on the L5450 is mounted in front of the engine

There should be a vacuum switch and a thermostat switch at the inlet port of the hydraulic pump that affect the light

Yes sorry that's the one. Here is a pic for reference.

That was my first guess. I reckon I was hoping it could be something different so I wouldn't have to dive into it that deep. Thank you Sir

Sounds like you could have sheared the roll pin.
Your going to need to check all of the linkage looking for the issue.
