What agricultural tires can I fit and have good clearance?

The stock sizes suit backhoe industrial sizes but they are terrible for sizing in ag tires.

There are no R1 style ag tires in
10 - 16.5
17.5L - 24

...and if there are they are nosebleed expensive!

I'm looking for R1 style tires.

I believe a 16.9 - 24 will fit the rear without issues and are a common tire in R1.

Can't find a decent R1 ag tire for the front 16.5" rims. Just skid steer industrial stuff.

Any help?

TIA

You can not fit R1 tires on R4 rims, the R4 rims are too wide!
If you do not want to get new rims, you could use R14 tires as they will work on the wide rims.
But they are not cheap.

With the weight capacity of the FEL and heavier machine be hard to find ag tires that tough. One reason I’ve switched to a M59. Did upgrade to fronts to high lug, high ply skidsteer for the front. Have played around with tire grooving R4s for improving traction.

It's only a tiny stretch. There are 16.9 - 24 listed for the L48. How much wider is the rim?
There is a big difference in the rim width!

The 16.9-24 kubota lists is NOT and R1 it's an R3 (turf), so same width as an R4 tire.

The L48 does not list any compatible R1 tires and rims.

I will also caution you, you can't just randomly slap any old set of tires and rims on it, as they have to be the right ratio, or you will destroy the front axle or drivetrain.
If they are not a matched set, no matter the size, damage will occur.

I would ask the question whether an Ag tire will hold up to the extra weight/load/stresses that a backhoe operation generates?

Isn't that why backhoe tractors come with industrial tires (depends on brand n size 10 to 20 ply?) and field tractors come with Ag tires (depends on brand n size 2 to 10 ply?).

I'm going to use the L48 for farm work- pulling plows and many other ground attachments. This tractor will be in the fields and will never see roads.

I'm gonna throw the ag tires on it. I don't believe there will be a problem. The 16.9 - 24 sits about 2 inches taller than the 17.5L - 24. I can't find the actual width of the L48 rear wheel but I believe it won't stretch the 16.9 - 24 much.

The tractor will blow up if a lugnut is torqued 2lb/ft over spec...
Why even ask for help if you not going to believe it?
You're going to break parts if you get it wrong, period!

You also don't even have the right rims for Ag use.
These are you what you have:

Okay after doing a bit more research, I found an oem spec r1 ag tire.

Goodyear Road Crew R1. Comes in oem spec with the proper load capacity.

As for use case, I was originally looking for a basic loader tractor for farm ag work. Happened to win the L48 at auction for a steal. Didn't plan on getting a backhoe but why not! The back hoe will be off the machine 99% of the time. I was hoping to run an ag tire.

Thanks for looking up the parts. I'm hoping there is an r1 that will fit the original rims.

I can't find any r1 ag style tire for skidsteer sizes. So likely will stick with the oem sizing and just run an r4 industrial up front.

There aren't many Nervous Nelly's on here, this isn't Facebook. These tractors don't have front/rear differentials so you can do serious drivetrain damage if the tire rolling circumference ratio isn't reasonably close to the front/rear gear ratio. There is a table on here somewhere that has the ratios and tire/wheel specs. I was going to suggest looking at L4701 tires and wheels. US guys on here say tires and wheels are as cheap as tires only.

BTW, don't use regular tractor fluid in that hydrostat. And no ether, zero.
