Started up my mower for the first time this year and I'm having some issues..
Everything works just fine till i engage the blades. They spin just fine while the deck is up but as soon as I put it down they slow down and stop after a few feet.
Any help would be appreciated

I assume it's the 40" two blade deck, although the 44" 3 blade is similar.

the tensioner is spring loaded. It is attached to an arm, which is supposed to pivot freely so that the spring can put tension on the belt. Often that tensioner arm is STUCK, the spring no longer can properly tension the belt, and when put under a load it will slip.

if it's stuck, it can be a bear to get it loose too.

Is this the arm you’re talking about?

no, that's the primary belt tension arm

the secondary belt tension arm is the one I'm talking about. Have to remove the mower deck from the tractor to gain access.
