Jyoutz I am so deeply sorry for this unbearable loss you have suffered.

This weighs more heavily on my heart than expected. To shed a tear for a brother whom I don't even know is something that has become more and more common as I get older.

I have prayed for you this morning, and will continue to, that you find peace and comfort.

And KNOW, that because of Jesus, she is in the greatest place she could ever possibly be. No pain, no sickness only praise and happiness.

And you will, without a doubt, MOST DEFINITELY see her again!

Be strong my brother,

Brandon
Thank you so very much

I can honestly say I feel your pain as my bride of 58 years is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s and it hurts every day to see her slip away may you find peace
That must be terrible. ALS robs the patient of their body, but Alzheimer’s robs them of their mind. My wife and I were able to talk until the end. Stay strong, you will need to be. Thoughts and prayers.

My best friend and 35 year companion died today. My wife fought ALS for five years and was lively up until yesterday. She said she was tired, went to sleep yesterday evening, and passed today. I was able to have a priest give her last rites late last night and she was happy to see him. Going forward, everything is a fog for me now. We’ve known that her disease was terminal, but still it hits hard. 😢😭
Im so sorry for your loss.

I don't normally reply to threads like this, because it causes me personal pain doing so.

Having lived through the alzheimer's/dementia experience myself, and losing my best friend and someone closer than a sibling after 52 years, I feel everyone's pain more deeply than most can understand, only because most are younger than we are who experience this at the forum.

For me it is not quite a year and a half yet. The memories are starting to overcome the tears now, but not by much. My guess is that my tears will still be there when my kids shed tears for me. Just what happens when you are so close to someone and close to your offspring as well.

I feel you pain...

My condolences as well. I had a coworker pass away a few years ago with als. Very sad as it destroys the body but not the mind.

My prayers for the OP. All of these incurable diseases take a toll on the care giver watching their loved one digress. ALS, ALzhiemers, Parkinsons Disease are all horrible illness .
It is going to take time to fill that hole in your heart and speaking for myself I don't think I will ever get the void completely patched up..
