My intentions are to use it as a rock rake on recently cleared property. I've used a box blade, but that also moves too much of the precious top soil I have in these rocky areas
I'll be pulling it with a L4701 fel
I have an opportunity to buy a like new tsc rock rake.
There are a couple reviews on them saying they are not very sturdy. Does anyone here have experience with one?
Or other brand recommendations?
Hey Brazos,
I'm in the hill country with cedar stumps cut just above ground level in limestone terrain.
do you think it could get them out using a 4701?
Do ya think the HD model would be better?
Ty, guys. I appreciate all the insight and info.
I ordered a L4701 fel
Med duty shredder
Box blade
The pahrana blade and stump bucket will have to wait for a little while. I just could not pass up the extra weight and horsepower
I was going to have the dealer put sealant to the tires...
I've just ordered a L4701
Industrial tires
Plain sealant is $500
Dealer said water and sealant would be a bit over $1k. Can't afford that; I'm scraping my pennies together to pay cash
My property is still pretty raw; cedar stump's and lots of surface limestone. Nothing too sharp
No superheavy loader work, more box blading rocks and pulling stumps
Would you prefer just sealant in tires or filling for ballast?
How good or bad an idea is it to fill tires with water?
The dealer is asking way too much money to fill them with water and sealant
I am in central Texas, so I don't have too much of a worry about freezing
I made the mistake of letting some cedar choppers onto the property early. They left all their stumps 3-6" above ground. I could easily find more than enough stumps I want gone.
I hate working tools too hard and my work schedule is normally very tight
There will be plenty of box blading...
I'm looking to buy my first and most likely last tractor
One priority on my new property will be to pull ground level cedar stumps from limestone terrain.
Will the 4701 fel be more effective enough for the price difference?
Hey Lenny
I am now understanding what you mean about the bh on the L series; cost and real effectiveness. Renting a unit for my short term goals may be the better way to go for now
Ssqa for sure
Medium duty cutter since my property is still in pretty raw shape
I've been thinking 3901
...but...
