What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Ground finally froze for a bit a week or two ago so I was able to get out and skid some logs. Managed to get a chance yesterday as well to pull some more out from a steeper part of the property (before we get too much snow for it to be inaccessible). Not is good as a winch, but it beats cutting...

    Tractor advice for 40+ acers

I agree with the others recommendation on renting or hiring out the heavy items like the stump removal. A mini-excavator is vastly more productive than any backhoe attachment. A B or L series would be a good fit for your needs. The L would not be a good choice if you plan on doing a lot of work...

Tow strap recommendation for tree removal?

Like flintknapper said, should be easy. I'm not a fan of straps for pulling stuff (more for lifting), I'd go with just a 20ftish chain (I keep one in a 50 cal ammo box on my tractor).

    Pulling logs

It really depends. For my b2601 and our hills a 3pt winch is the way to go...some day! For now I use the grab hook and chains to grab logs up to maybe 40 ft off my trails and pull the logs. I am cutting for firewood so I pull enough for 4-6x 16" pieces and cut the log and set it aside for my...

    Grapple jaws not holding

Yup, I've have the same experience (on a smaller machine).

Got lucky and found one in stock

Can I ask how much? I have a B2601 that is great, but I always feel like I went a little too small...though.. once gardening season comes and I have to move mulch and plants I'll likely find it a little big.

    Moving topsoil

A box blade or back blade would do the job. I found for smoothing lawn the FEL will work just fine to move then smooth by backdragging. When I needed to move 7 years of top soil to smooth out my back yard I used the back blade a little for an area I wanted smooth and level. For the rest where I...

    Used MX5800 vs L5740

How close is their pricing to your nearest dealer? All the private party prices I've seen the last 2 years are within "close enough" to new pricing. Pricing aside, do you have minimum hard requirements? Things like " I need X PTO horsepower to run my generator", or " I need to lift X weight...

Using vacuum to not lose hydrostatic fluid?

Vacuum trick worked beautifully. It's also an easy/clean job and I managed to get my wife to help hold it while I changed the filters.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

That machine looks like a blast, I can't blame you for wanting to get right out and use it. Heck, if I had one I'd be using it to run down to get the mail at the mailbox everyday.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Mixed day for me on my Kubota. Went to go pull logs out of the woods and everything was going great. Got the chains on the first log and when i went to get on the tractor i saw everyones worst nightmare, a flat tire! Queue a 1/3rd mile walk back to the house for rope and bike pump. Fortunately...

    Tractor(s?) for Vermont

Hey fellow Vermonter! By the sounds of it you really have one hard requirement, and that is you need to lift the round bales. The rest can be done by some size machine but would be faster on a bigger machine. For round bales I think you need to check the loader can handle it weight wise...

Just the beginning, like it or not

I think hydrogen will eventually take over diesel, but for electric there are niches they will likely fill where the strengths of electric make them attractive. Part of small pilot runs is to just get products out there and for people to find uses.

Just the beginning, like it or not

A whole Lotta guys with closed minds. Electric excavators aren't competing with 200hp units, and aren't being made for markets that don't exist. Lots of jobsites can't have ICE running due to vapor or exhaust issues. A baby electric excavator can drive through a doorway and do demo/digging work.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I never get tired of seeing folks working on firewood. Its interesting to see how folks do different things to increase efficiency. Plus it's always a good reminder for me to get my butt out there and keep plugging away at the firewood stacks!
