I would go with one that's at LEAST as wide as the tractor's rear wheel footprint. But it really depends on what you're planning to do with it. Just bear in mind that if your tractor is wider than the blade, you'll be leaving tire tracks in your finished work.

I think I see the bend you're referring to on the non-adjustable left lift arm leveling rod. I was trying to find a photo taken at the same angle for comparison...maybe this will be of help...

Thanks for the help, guys. Over the weekend, we swapped sides and gained about 7" of tread width. The center to center measurement is now about 51". :) Before and after pictures here for comparison.
