Now I am confused. If there are no liners, how do you insert a sleeve? I thought a sleeve and liner were the same thing.

It looks like that poor engine will have to sit a while. I don't have an extra $2000 laying around at this time.:(

Re: Checked the Manual Stumpy, Thanks for the manual. I looked at page 66 and 67. They do not mention cylinder sleeves. Just reboring the cylinder. Shucks I was hoping this would be a DYI job.

Re: sticker shock I just priced a rebuild kit. $1306. I found out the cylinders are not replaceable. That means the cyliders will need to be bored and there is no assurance all the rust pits will be gone. Do I spend the money on having the engine overbored and hope the cylinders are rust free?

Wanted: Oil Pan L4400 or L4240 series tractor I need an oil pan for my V2203 engine. I need the steel, deep pan not the shallow wide aluminum type. The the V2203 is used on the L4400 and L4240 tractors.

I was recently given a V2203 that has sat outside for maybe 6 months. Using a screwdriver and the teeth on the flywheel, I can get the engine to rotate only 270 degrees. It makes a clink sound and stops when rotating to the right. It makes a grinding sound just before it stops when rotating...

So all I need to do is increase the injection pump pressure to get the full 50hp out of it? How is this done? Do I need special equipment? Or, should I just be happy with the 40 hp and let sleeping dogs lie?

I do appreciate the answer but I have not been able to find the key pieces of information that I am looking for. Can you tell me the horsepower and RPM range of this engine? I have been all over the web with no luck. All know is that it is from a Carrier 2004 refer unit.
