    Independent rear brakes

Kubota made the change on most B series tractors a couple of decades ago. The moved the brake pedals to the left when they removed the clutch. Previous models were available with either HST or gear type transmissions so clutches were needed.

    Tire replacement

I would do nothing unless/until it fails.

    Independent rear brakes

Steering brakes are a good feature, indeed. Farm tractors have been equipped with steering brakes since the 1920s, if not before. FWIW, 20s vintage International Farmall tractors, e.g., Regular and derivitive F series models, were equipped with automatically applied steering brakes operated...

What price range should I be expecting?

I have no idea but I would want proof of both "surplus new" and "lightly used" claims.

A bit of a long rant. They don't build pickup trucks like they use toooooo.

"Despite corrosion problems being solved, the car electronics now limits the useful life to about 15 to 20 years. Spare parts will not be available (or are prohibitively expensive) in the future because the silicon manufacturers guarantee only about 10 to 12 years availability." Largely true...

    Kubota oil alternatives

Any quality modern diesel spec oil will be fine for your engine. I've used Kubota, Rotella, Delo, Valvoline, etc., in various Kubota diesel engines in the past. Watch the ads and buy whatever is on sale.

    Independent rear brakes

There is really no decent way to use the steering brakes on your tracttor unless the HST is being controlled by the "cruse control" rather than the HST pedal. Early B series tractors had both HST and brake pedals on the right side because a clutch pedal was on the left side. Kubota moved the...

    New truck,,,, maybe

"But the same is true for anything. People don't go to forums to rave about the good, they go to rant about the bad. " Bingo.

    New truck,,,, maybe

I suppose one could say that the GM 2.7L Turbomax is a GM version of Ford's Ecoboost family. I recently bought a new GMC Canyon Denali with the 2.7, the only engine available, but cannot comment regarding durability as I have driven it less than 25 miles.

Agreed. The technology has changed, as has the technology (and government regulations). I don't think anyone who remembers can argue that modern vehicles are not more resistant to rust than the vehicles made in the 50s and 60s.

BX tires - Turf or R4? and what brand?

Absent abuse, e.g., operating while underinflated, tractor tires will last for decades. The tires on my 1994 B1750 are original and I do not expect to replace them for years to come. Inside storage helps as UV damage is minimized.

BX tires - Turf or R4? and what brand?

As your tires are filled with liquid ballast, you will need to take them to a tire shop that works on AG tires for replacement. Having been filled with liquid ballast, it is almost a certainty that they cannot be repaired but you might ask the shop about the prospect of proper cleaning and...
