I agree. The shim is to compensate for milled head or deck.

My L275 likes a 30 second glow-plug warm-up even in the summer. My newer B2100 is good to go after 15 seconds. I'm curious if there is a difference between the two systems.

Fixed. Removed and disassembled the valve assembly from the top of the steering box and found one of the four pistons was stuck in the bore. Honed the bore with some 600 grit, reassembled, and mowed a field. It's working great with full power assist! MUCH nicer to drive now!:D
