I ended up buying a digital tach and hour meter. My issue was I didn’t have the original generator but an alternator. This was a direct fit to the dash. I did need to add a wire to the alternator for the tach to work. This could be an option for you.

Thanks the assistance all. I will try calling Sue to ask questions about parts. I will most definitely be checking the bearings and the fits. The little bit of play in the assembly tells me something is worn out.

Thanks for the information. I was thinking of doing that. I was concerned that if this is an OEM seal then I might be screwed if I damaged it even further without the possibility of finding a new seal.

The tachometer has a setting button on the back that I needed to adjust. The instructions said to set the tachometer to the number of poles in the alternator. Once the idle speed displayed was between 600-800RPM, I was at the correct setting. Full factory throttle displays 2700RPM.
