Thanks guys, I will try all of those except turning the tractor upside down - almost did that a couple of years ago - not a fun experience - still trying to get the skid marks out of my shorts!

    Sump? under main shaft pulley!

After pulling my water pump on my L245DT, I noticed what appears to be a sump under the main shaft pulley. I thought it was only filled with coolant from leaking water pump, but it is also filled with a sludge as well. Could be oil, hydraulic fluid (I'm also replacing 3 hyd. hoses). Is there...

    L245DT Water Pump Removal

Will do! Most of the old gasket was stuck to the pump face but I will clean up the block face well.

    L245DT Water Pump Removal

Russell ,Pump is off! Found one additional locator pin (3 total), however only one pin was actually in place. Used putty knife to separate pump from block. Worked great, started at top and worked down right side - that broke the seal and than it pulled off easily. Thanks for all your help...

    L245DT Water Pump Removal

I have identified 2 locator pins but I count 19 holes in the gasket so I am short 1 fastener or 1 more locator pin. Will check again tomorrow with a better light. Like the use of a putty knife. Was thinking screwdriver but putty knife seems safer.

    L245DT Water Pump Removal

The pump is definitely a 15341-73030. I have removed all 16 fasteners (M10 &M12 bolts and nuts on studs). The pump still does not want to come off. I really do not want to damage the engine block or studs (pump is gone so cannot hurt it anymore) so would welcome any advice on how to break the...

    L245DT Water Pump Removal

Russell. Thanks for your quick and accurate reply! Because of so much grease and stuff on the front of the engine I did not even see the cover extension and was convinced I had the 73032 pump. Sure glad I haven't ordered the new pump yet! I am now in the process of degreasing the front cover...

    L245DT Water Pump Removal

Hi Guys, My L245 water pump died on me and doesn't want to come off the engine. I thought it was mounted with bolts (parts list calls them bolts) but they seem to be studs. I removed the four nuts but the pump won't budge. Are these in fact studs? and are they at all removable? I would really...

    Exhaust thru weep hole

Thanks all for your replys, It noticeably exhausts thru the weep hole on startup and yes it does exhaust thru the normal stack. Maybe it is just a winter thing. My plow truck broke down in Nov. and I've been using my tractor more this winter for snow removal. Many cold day starts when it is...

    Exhaust thru weep hole

My l245 recently started blowing exhaust thru the elbow weep hole. Is that normal? or a sign that my muffler is clogging up? Had this tractor 8 years and never saw this before. If muffler, anyway to unclog it or just replace it? Thanks for any and all advice. Chuck M.

    l245dt tranny or clutch noise!

Thanks for the info and the WSM. I downloaded a copy earlier tonight. Fired it up today but couldn't recreate the same noise - just a faint rattling noise, but not the louder grinding/rubbing noise I heard yesterday. If I won't be hurting anything else, I'll delay the repair till later this...

    l245dt tranny or clutch noise!

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if the noise stops with the clutch in. I'll fire it up tomorrow and try that step. I know it doesn't make that noise when in gear and moving If it is the clutch, throwout bearing, what is the downside of not repairing it right away? With all the rain we've...

    l245dt tranny or clutch noise!

have owned this tractor for 9 months, and until yesterday it ran great and sounded normal. Now I hear a rorating/grinding/rubbing noise either from tranny or clutch area. Both shifters in neutral, idling at 1000 RPM's and the noise starts for seconds or minutes than stops and than starts again...

    L225 headlights

You might also check your wiring. A week ago I took my headlight assy apart and mixed up the wiring on reassembly. result was right headlight worked on high beam only and left headlight worked on low beam only! Corrected the wiring (brown to brown and orange to orange) and both now work as...

    L245 tacho problem

Have you checked the other end of the cable at the back of the meter? It is a real pain to access ( I just had my dash out this weekend), but that could be a problem if not firmly attached! Good luck!
