    HST saftey switch

I also had a problem with the Throttle Centering Safety Switch on my L2800 HST. Problem was intermittent starting - went to two dealers with the symptoms - they offered up all kinds of suggestions. I down-loaded an exploded parts diagram from Messicks (great company to deal with). That helped...

    Lock out switches

I have an intermittent starting problem also on my L2800 - I also suspect the Safety Switches. My plan is to clean the terminals and then apply some dielectric grease to help slow/eliminate the corrosion problem. My biggest problem is getting the time to do it. placervillebob

    b77 backhoe question

I have a 2005 L2800 with a BH75, a little smaller than yours, but I can and do operate both the boom and the dipper stick hydraulics at the same time. I use them together for exactly the reason you mentioned, to skim a little from the area being excavated. If you can't operate both at the same...

    Hydraulic Oil Changing Questions

Perfect - Those are just the answers I needed. I was afraid, once I removed one of the drain plugs, I would have 6+ gallons of oil to deal with and couldn't get the plug back in to change (or empty) my drain pan. I have heard that switching to SUDT2 would quiet it a little - mainly from other...

    Hydraulic Oil Changing Questions

2005 L2800 HST with 175 hours I bought this tractor used several months ago and because of lack of service history will be changing the hydraulic oil soon – using SuperUDT2. I have a few questions: - My drain containers will not hold 6+ gallons – is it possible to use a drill operated transfer...

Trying to decide on wheel spacers width

I live in the foothills and have slopes also so I am considering spacers - this is a great thread and thanks for the pictures. I have a question that may seem dumb but here goes - I also have 15 x 19.5 R4 back tires that are filled about 75% with water - How do you deal with getting them off and...

    Service Repair Manual for L2800

2005 L2800 HST 180 hours I plan to work minor to moderate (nothing like re-building a transmission or engine) repairs for my above tractor. I have the service manual that comes with the the tractor but it is a little short on details and only outlines regular service to be performed. Does...

    Intermittent Starting Problem

Thanks once again for the diagnosis and for the tests. It looks like it is a pretty easy job to replace the starter. I'm a little suprised a tractor with as few hours on it (170) as this one would have a starter going south. I have yet to get a repair manual - is one available on CD for the...

    Intermittent Starting Problem

I have an L2800 HST (2005 with 170 hours) that, until the last couple of days, starts every time. An intermittent problem in starting has developed. Once in a great while, when I turn the key, the 3 dash lights light but no cranking at all - no clicking - just silence (yes, the clutch is...

    2WD to 4WD & back Difficult L2800

Thanks for the comments. I have checked the linkage and nothing looks bent or out-of-place. I tried putting a little lube on all the pivot points. The previous owner stated he never shifted out of 4WD. Maybe after a little "exercising" things will loosen up. placervillebob

    2WD to 4WD & back Difficult L2800

Hi - New to the forum and just purchased a new (to me) 2005 L2800 HST with 91 hours on it. Just performed the 100 mile service and all is well except I am having difficulty engaging and dis-engaging the front wheels for 4WD. I have the manual and have tried using the clutch while stopped, even...
