"Burnishing" your new brakes. WTF......... Now I've heard it all. (I'm raising the Bullsh!t flag)

yeah burnishing is real the race car has really expensive brakes designed specifically for the purpose I used it for you MUST burnish them, more or less destroys them if you don't it can get really expensive and could possibly hurt... on most any street cars it's still a very good idea to do...

Automotive Museum and Member Classics...What We Do For Fun.

in june 1992 I bought a 75 Ford Maverick. Had it ever since. Made a drag car out of it, dad and I had a long run in that business with multiple cars, but that was the one I kept for so long. Until Saturday. Took deposit on it, supposed to come back I think this coming weekend to pick it up...

    New Cars/Trucks

clutches can be out of alignment which can cause it, but more likely the roller pawl on the internal shift linkage is probably broken. The roller falls off of the arm. RH side of the transmission. Remove the cable, the arm the cable attaches to, then remove the shift indicator sensor, then...

    VHT Slipping?

yes a lot of the tuff-torq transaxles that deere used didn't have a charge pump. Noisy things and if you didn't take good care of em they'd die. Used to be a deere dealer, did quite a few. Weren't worth fixing either, less expensive to replace the unit. the wsm has a whole section in...

    Electric fan for B7100HST

the mechanical fan moves a lot more air than most electric fans a lot of guys in the automotive world swap the mechanical fan for an e-fan because e-fans are supposedly "cool" to have, but in the end they (most of them, almost all aftermarket fans) don't cool nearly as well as the oem installed...

M7040 3 point weakens throughout the day

every time I did them, they were low at the remotes. 500-1200 psi at high idle (usually). Maybe I fixed something else while I had the pcv off/apart?

    VHT Slipping?

the engine rarely fails, probably the toughest part of the whole unit the transmission is the most piss poor excuse for a UTV transmission. It is not a CVT, and a lot of people are scared of CVT's for a lot of reasons (Usually people posting garbage on the net about how bad theirs was). Then...

M7040 3 point weakens throughout the day

I've had a relief valve in the position control valve assembly) stick and cause this exact same thing. I did 8 or 10 of them before I left the kubota business. On cab models you have to lift the cab a little bit to get the position control valve assembly out. But you need to be able to...

Oil Pressure Driving Me Crazy - Not Cam Plug

since there is an oil clearance, yes, it needs to be checked. The cam wears and the block wears. Even if it's a .001" combined amount of wear, it adds up. Most people never check it but I have and I've seen the cam worn a little bit which can cause exactly what you are describing.

    New Cars/Trucks

The turbo doesn't generally fail unless there is an outside cause. Lack of maintenance, dirt ingestion, foreign object ingestion, lack of a cooldown after a long hot run, and/or overspeeding. coking the bearing housing is a big cause and is preventable. When you stop at your destination let...

    New Cars/Trucks

don't discount the little baby turbo 4 pot. Go drive one, I think you may be surprised. It has more torque down low than the 5.3 does. Few guys out here pull their boats to/from the lake with them and they are impressed. I have not driven one. same people dissed the little 4 cylinder...

Oil Pressure Driving Me Crazy - Not Cam Plug

    L2900 Fuel System Problem

pull the line off of the tank and see if fuel flows out freely. If so, put it back on. Then remove the line at the fuel filter outlet and see if it flows freely. If not, pull the inlet line off of the filter housing, remove the filter and then get the stuff out of the inlet and/or outlet...

    New Cars/Trucks

a mechanic that is worth anything has a reputation for instance I do a lot of polaris stuff, many Rangers it would be easy to say that all I see every day, 5 days a week, is broken rangers and that would be truthful. However lets look at the real story here. I might see 5 or 6 a day. out of...

Normal for relief valves to stick?

I've seen this a few times. Usually debris in the system causes the valve to stick.
