Oil change interval on low use tracto

I guess maybe in my case lesson here is rather than do a spring/early summer change out of oil and filter move that to fall around my last leaf chopping/lawn feeding time period and then the unit will over winter with fresh(er) oil and filter. Save the mower deck gear box, coolant, and transaxle...

Oil change interval on low use tracto

On our hybrid car I try to follow calendar pretty tightly because it gets a lot of short trips with wife driving it 98% of the time and hybrids are really hard on engine oil . I know at least on the tractor once it's running I definitely get the oil to a good operating temp. My other car...

Oil change interval on low use tracto

Well I appreciate that. I've kinda been fretting leaving it back there.

Oil change interval on low use tracto

Really? You don't worry about it "over wintering"? Understand I'm not criticizing I'm curious. That's been more what I am concerned about. Even though I only have about 30 hours on the oil since changing it in May last year I'd been concerned about it. Then winter crawled up our butts here...

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

Many years ago, had to do that in lieu of windshield fluid on my 65 Corvair. Had gotten it stuck in mud when we went out to some old farm in McHenry IL to do some trap shooting. Same kind of thing but different part of the car

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

Maybe not BUT by the same token the last thing you'd want to do is put GM Death Cool in your BMW or in my case my Kubota. Both my cars are Toyota (a low mile bought new by use 2020 RAV4 Hybrid) and our 2024 Toyota BZ4X which also uses Toyota pink cocktail juice but also a very curious coolant...

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

Oh I know color is not a "standard" I pay attention to the formulation and what the mfgr wants in their engine(s). And I've assumed and I guess correctly Kubota's formulation needs are very similar to many other Japanese mfgrs i.e. Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Mazda.

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

I'm quite sure from everything I've read the Asian (at least for Honda/Toyota) are the same formulations only different colors. I'm unsure what Hyundai/Kia specs, and as for Subaru I would not doubt its the same as what Toyota and Honda call for. And given that Mazda and Subaru are so tightly...

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

Right at the first Arab Oil Embargo I was driving a 69 Caddy Coupe De Ville (loved that sled). 6 MPG on a good day I could not get enough gasoline for it to get to work a couple times. For you youngsters the first embargo was 73 :D

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

Must be the Illinausea road taxes and such as by that time even regular was more WAY more than that here. Of course now with most of the country beginning to enjoy gas at under $2 a gal here in most places we're LUCKY to see it under $2.90! But 12 miles north in WI low $2's Usually .60 or more...

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

I haven't seen .19 gas since around 1961 or 62! You old bro! :D Didn't go to college but if I had at that time (at least here in Chicago area where I lived) back then it varied from 23-29 depending on grade and time of year

    Aftermarket Coolant vs. Kubota

What does the Subaru use? Is it an Asian blend? Seems other than color the Asian ones (at least the Japanese) all use the same formulations. Just that Honda is blue and Toyota is pink (yes I know about the red but that is older ones and AFAIK the pink is backward compatible.
