What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Finished up excavating the foundation for our new house build and set the footing forms. Kubota is paying for itself!

What were you able to do with your kubota that surprized you?

Dug an entire house foundation with our Kubota, some places were 4+ feet below grade, 6 foot wide trench, level to within 1/2" My wife is now thinking the Kubota isn't such a play toy after all.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Excavated entire house foundation with our little Kubota U35-4. Got it level to within 1/2", 32+" depth and 6 foot wide trenches so we or the concrete guy we have yet to find can get in and set the forms for the footings and stem walls. Pretty proud of my little Kubota now.

Removed gigantic stump with tiny Kubota

This property is in town, only a few blocks from main street. I do not know if they want people lighting up diesel fueled stumps here. It also only took me about 4 hours on the Kubota to pull the stump and all of the tap roots. Technically faster than burning it out and then removing the...

Removed gigantic stump with tiny Kubota

I contacted 12 builders/foundation guys and 6 returned my calls, 4 said they would get back to me and never did, 1 said they were too busy for the job (no virus depression in construction I guess!) and just one I am still holding out hope even though they have not come back with a bid. The one...

Removed gigantic stump with tiny Kubota

Well, unless we wanted to build the footings on top of the stump, it kind of had to come out, so I haven't *done* anything yet that is what I consider wrong. I am still leaning toward hiring the foundation and compaction out, but just can't get anyone interested while the virus is ongoing.

Yes, the hydraulic compactors seem to be about $5k. The jumping jack type you can rent for about $90 a day. Maybe the high impact of the jumping jack would actually compact more than the hydraulic?

Removed gigantic stump with tiny Kubota

Hey guys. It has been awhile since I have logged on, but I still have my Kubota U35-4 mini excavator and still love it. We decided this year to buy a small parcel of land (0.3 acres) in town and I brought the U35 over to it to use while building a house. We are going to build the house...

    Backhoe vs mini excavator

I love our Kubota U35-4. We use it for everything, ditches, moving rocks, lifting diesel engine out of bed of pickup truck. We even used it to plant 20 foot long 6"x6" poles in 4 foot deep holes it dug for our pole barn. lKkgfKdeWb4

    Mini Excavator Recommendations

Did the OP want a 24 inch wide trench with a 10 foot flat bottom? I missed that. I thought he wanted to trench for water and power or something. I was thinking around 4 feet deep, maybe 12 inches wide, something the U35-4 can do easily (I have already done 100s of feet of that with mine so I...

    Mini Excavator Recommendations

I paid under $40k for the U35-4 with thumbs, 12 and 24 inch buckets. It is only a 3.5 ton machine though, maybe the KX040 is a 4 ton? I like the U35-4 because it squeaks in under the DEF requirements. I like comparing new to new. How much is a JD310 new? Actually I am not sure they make...

    Mini Excavator Recommendations

Yes I read that, I was just balking at the idea that a mini is not good for trenching, which is probably the one area that a mini shines. Besides, a mini is under $40k. A full size excavator or TLB new is $300K to $400K or more. That being said, I wouldn't use a mini to try and knock down a...

This is a joke right? A mini is hands down better than a tractor for trenching, especially in the mountains.

    Mini Excavator Recommendations

I bought a new 2017 U35-4 for use on our ~30 acres of mountain timberland and love it. I got it with thumbs, a 12 inch and 24 inch bucket. When we purchased our property the gravel road on it, which was really nicely done about a decade ago, had 2" diameter saplings growing all in it. I...
