    M4700 PTO Clutch

My Tractor is still at the dealer supposedly getting fixed. They tested the system and the pressure was at 350 lbs which was where it should be. They split the tractor and found the PTO clutch facings had come off of the face of the plate. They quoted $2000 labor and about $1500 parts. At this...

    M4700 PTO Clutch

Thank you all for the comments. The dealer did not mention any tests being run at all. All they said that since the pto cable replacement did not fix the problem it must be the clutch. the tractor had about 1200 hrs when I bought and I just use it part time to do a little brush hogging. Is the...

    M4700 PTO Clutch

Hey GeoHorn thanks for chiming in. The tractor runs fine and there are no issues with the drive line at all or the way the tractor operates. It has 1680 hrs on it. They are telling me now that since the pto cable was not the problem then it must be the clutch and labor is $3000 and they can't...

    M4700 PTO Clutch

Hi Ya'll. Kinda hoping I can get some advice on an issue I have with my PTO. Last December I had my tractor serviced by the dealer and needed to have them look at my PTO which would just barely turn my brush hog. They put a new PTO cable on it and sent it back. Last week I hooked up the hog and...

    M4700 Front Axle Oil level

Ok Wolfman, on the right and left cases there are two plugs, one to drain the case and one to fill the case, if I got that right. Now on the center case which is the long what I would call the axle case there is only the one plug on top and no way to check for correct oil level. I can't fill...

    M4700 Front Axle Oil level

There is a plug on top of the axle housing and I use a long screwdriver to make sure there is oil in there but should there 2 inches or 4 inches or what is the correct depth.

    M4700 Front Axle Oil level

Hey Guys, just a quick question about the oil level in the front axle. I have a slow leak in the left side wheel assembly and want to make sure not to run the axle low on gear oil. My problem is there is no plug or dip stick to check the oil level, the dealer says to drain it and put in the...

    Temperature gauge stopped working L285

I had that same problem on M4700 and turned out to be the heat sensor. What 85Hokie said is right, I found the sensor was hard to get to because it was under the fuel tank so I unplugged the sensor and put a wire lead into the connector and was able to ground that with the ignition on and the...

    Temp gauge not working

OK guys, this is my final post on this thread (I hope). New temperature sensor works great, new ignition switch works great, new alternator putting out solid 14.5 volts and the low fuel light is off. Wow! Thanks to all who helped this Newby get this done I hope to be able to return the favor...

    Temp gauge not working

The battery with cables off reads 12.5 with volt meter. When hooked to my charger read 12.6 at 80%. My charger has an alternator check feature on it and I clamped it on the cables. With the tractor warmed up and running the reading was 0. Not real sure on the accuracy of that old charger but...

    Temp gauge not working

Hey ya'll my parts got backordered a couple of days but they are installed and the beast is back together. The temp gage is working fine and the ign switch great. I ran a voltage test and 12.5 is the best I get running or not. Looks like I'm going to be talking to the guys Geohorn mentioned...

    Temp gauge not working

Oh man Geohorn, you must be clairvoyant, the low fuel light has been on for about 6 months. I talked to the dealer about it and he said it was probably a bad diode and as long as the fuel gage was working not to worry about it. Sooo, the question is, what is the easiest way to check the...

    Temp gauge not working

Thanks guys, got the steering wheel off and wouldn't you know it, after testing the gage it's the sensor. So will pick up a new one when I'm back in town and be done with it. I'm going to replace the ign switch since the dash is tore down. Any thing else I should do while it's apart.

    Temp gauge not working

Well maybe I'll find that the sensor is bad and won't even have to pull the wheel. I'll post tomorrow and let you know.

    Temp gauge not working

Here's what I got on the steering wheel I've tried hitting the top of the center shaft on the puller but to no avail. Î put a lot of pressure on the puller and some WD and I am hoping it might loosen overnight. I will try grounding the wire and see what happens. Thanks for riding along with...
