    can you put a wrench on the spools sticking up and rotate each one a bit? Do not put channel locks or pliers on those spools. Use the wrench flats that are there. Could be one of those spools has a bit of dirt stuck in it.

    At worst case, if the pump is damaged, take it to a fuel injection repair shop to get rebuilt. Way cheaper than shelling out for a new pump.

    the other thing is make sure you are not bottoming out on the drive shaft. In the pics that looks like it may be a problem.

    there is a pin to keep the coupler centered. They are prone to falling out an the coupler sliding off one of the drive shafts

    probably the coupler on the front driveshaft has slipped out of position.
