Do I need more horse power?

I wish  That would require time and money that I don’t have (n)

Do I need more horse power?

Yea that’s the main difference in the HP for mowing use. I’ve lost power with my 5ft in thick wet grass. Lucky for me, mowing season is pretty dry where I live.

Do I need more horse power?

To follow up on this old thread, I’ve been dropping the loader before I mow and it’s a totally different machine. I can climb my hills in M gear. Cuts my mow time in half so I can easily get the whole field done in one shot. Also saves a little fuel, which this year is a big deal.

Do I need more horse power?

I do it about every 2-3 weeks in the summer sometimes let it go if it’s really hot. I could let it grow up a ways but I have some noxious weeds that need to stay cut to keep under control. Next year I plan on buying a 3pt sprayer and spraying to kill off most of that and hopefully establish some...

Do I need more horse power?

That’s a sweet mower! If I could justify something like that it would be great, but I would tear up anything but a rotory cutter or flail mower on my property.

Do I need more horse power?

Yup, rear tires are loaded. Sometimes I drop the bucket before I mow but I’ve never removed the loader. I should give that a try, it might be enough to help me out.

Do I need more horse power?

I bought it brand new and so far only have 20 hours on it. Would love to tune it or turbo it but that would void the warranty.

Do I need more horse power?

I’ve been considering dropping the loader before I mow as I do have loaded tires as well. I was a little worried that losing front ballast might make my front axle lose traction when mowing uphill. I’m not sure I should be concerned about that or not. And to respond to your final point, yes I...

Do I need more horse power?

I usually mow half one day and half the next but occasionally need to get it done in one shot. Another plus to the L3901 would be a 72 in mower. I can only run a 60in on my 2501. The problem with running at the 540 mark is I lose power going up the hills so end up barely moving unless I get...

Do I need more horse power?

I have an L2501 that gets used for mowing my field all summer. It’s only about 4.5 acres but it’s rolling hills with some very steep parts. It takes everything the tractor has in 4WD Low range to get up my hills mowing or not. It also requires me to run wide open throttle which is probably not...

Mowing Steep Hills - Loader on or off?

You are correct. I am running a Land Pride RCR1260 which weighs 500 lbs. I have loaded rear tires but no weight on the front (without the loader). My hills are steep enough that I wouldn't feel safe mowing in 2WD. I keep that tractor in 4 almost all the time. As far as lifting the mower, I...

    Loader Level Indicator

I don't have one. I just look at the top edge of my bucket. It is flat and parallel with the cutting edge. It makes it super easy to tell where I'm at and can be seen from just about anywhere. Same principal works with my pallet forks. The fork frame is flat on top. When I have the forks on the...

Mowing Steep Hills - Loader on or off?

My property is rolling hills and needs to be mowed quite a bit in the spring/summer. I have been mowing with my loader on but feel like I am beating my tractor/loader up with the bouncing going over rough terrain. I would like to take the loader off next time I mow but don't know if the lack of...

    What to spray field with?

I have a full list and documentation on each weed I need to take care of. There are too many to spot spray right now. I was told by the inspector that I was reported by a neighbor and it resulted in multiple other neighbors getting sited as well. I am not the only one with these weeds on my...
