Give me Tips on Removing, Rebuilding L3710 Steering Cylinder

The steering cylinder on my L3710 has been leaking for years, and I found this thread while preparing to tackle the job myself, but I'm admittedly discouraged by your experience.

    G1800 water pump removal

Success! Reassembly presented no real challenges and the tractor was up and running within an hour with no leaks apparent through full operating temperature. Tackling other maintenance at the same time certainly would have been easier with the engine out and radiator removed, but for replacing...

    G1800 water pump removal

It took me at least that long to extract the assembly the way I described. Perhaps pulling the engine is easier than I think, but it's admittedly intimidating (I suppose my L3710 bucket could serve as the hoist; I have no shop, just a dirt floor barn). If squeezing the new assembly in there...

    G1800 water pump removal

Perhaps. So far this approach seems easier, but I'll find out soon enough! That certainly was not the case on my G1900.

    G1800 water pump removal

Thank you! I managed to extract the pump+pulley+fan assembly together without removing the engine or radiator by detaching the coolant overflow reservoir, unbolting the fan shroud so it can tip forward, and unbolting the comp panel from the tractor frame so the radiator can tip rearward enough...

    G1800 water pump removal

I'm preparing to do this on my G1900 but the rest of your post does not appear for me. Can it be done with the radiator in place? If not, then to remove it, some say pull the engine, some say pull the dash. What approach do you suggest?

    G1800 Driveshaft Replacement Tips

Wow, that's some major disassembly! On my G1900S, it took about fifteen minutes to remove the drive shaft once the mower deck was off and the front wheels were up on ramps. Remove Pin from rear Yoke Clamp. Some models have a Yoke Clamp with Bolt. Unbolt (3 x 12mm) front triangular splined...

    L3710 Hydrastatic Fluid change

Just to follow up... removing the spring from that HST pedal lever and the front cotter pin from the rod beneath it allowed both to be repositioned for easy access to the filter screen, which slid out looking clean after 200 hours at 2355 hours total. Also, the hydraulic oil gauge "sight glass"...

    L3710 Hydrastatic Fluid change

The HYDRAULIC PIPE [HST TYPE] section of the parts catalog for my L3710 depicts part 030 as 54516-36560 FILTER, which the manual recommends rinsing when replacing the hydraulic fluid and filters during the 200 hour service. Presumably, this is what's described here: Hydraulic Filter Suction...

    Hydraulic Screen Strainer Question

The HYDRAULIC PIPE [HST TYPE] section of the parts catalog for my L3710 depicts part 030 as 54516-36560 FILTER, which the manual recommends rinsing when replacing the hydraulic fluid and filters as part of the 200 hour service. I located the bolt on the right side near the suction filter but...

    L3710 engine won't stop

Bacca, please let us know what the problem turned out to be. In my case, the knob on the end of the solenoid arm had rotated out of the notch, preventing it from pulling back on the engine stop lever.

    L4300DT Steering play

Re: L3710 Steering play I have the same issue with slop in ASSY ARM PITMAN 040 on my L3710. Were you successful? Guidance on repairing or replacing TA040-17132 would be much appreciated!

L4400 Front axle cases & bevel gear cases

Thanks for your helpful reply! Employing a similar approach, I managed to get cir clip 100 into the groove with shim 095 properly situated by 1) using a jack to keep the case firmly seated for maximum clearance, 2) coating the shim with oil so it would adhere to the bearing race well enough to...

L4400 Front axle cases & bevel gear cases

Re: L3710 Front axle cases & bevel gear cases I am losing the same battle. I just replaced the king pin seals on my L3710 and have had no luck getting cir clip 100 into the groove with shim 095 in place. It could be that there is less clearance now with the new seal, but when I hook the shim...
