    L2000 Overcharging

What's the thoughts on running with the negative battery post disconnected? Will that toast the alternator? Was hoping to get the back 3 acres cut today, but don't want to ruin the alternator or blow a brand new battery in the process... I may have another old alternator around that may fit the...

    L2000 Overcharging

hmmm... I had the idea the regulator was in the alternator and there it is under the dash... I've had the dash off twice and unplugged the thing and hadn't even thought twice about it... :o OK... I'll go ahead and order a new regulator for the thing and see where that gets me...

    L2000 Overcharging

Hi all, I posted earlier about looking for a radiator after the battery let go a couple years ago. Well, I replaced the alternator (new) and the battery (used) after that and just last week, this battery let go. I knew the battery was low voltage (around 11) when I put it on, but it had enough...

    L2000 radiator

Thanks, I haven't tried a radiator shop yet but will see if I can find one over the weekend. As far as the temp gauge - this model didn't have one and I haven't found a place for the sending unit. I recall a thread where someone had tried tapping in at the front head cover while rebuilding the...

    L2000 radiator

Hi all, A couple of years ago I had the battery blow on my L2000. I immediately flooded the entire front of the tractor with water and followed up by heavy coating of baking soda to try and cut the acid, but it finally took its toll over the past winter. The bottom half of the radiator is now...

Also - one other good maintenance tip I forgot about... At the base of the steering column where the tube goes into the steering box, there is a drain hole - this is to allow any water that runs down the steering column to escape. Keep that one clean - if water sits in the steering column it...

I'm using a combination fluid I bought from the local NAPA in a 5 gal jug.

Thanks Wamagiibon, That cap is for the transmission/hydraulic fluid. I keep my fluid level just enough to cover the shaft (you can see it thru the hole). One thing to note about that cap... it has a vent hole. If it gets clogged, when the tranny gets hot, the pressure will push the fluid back...

I'll add one addendum to this... The PTO speed is not affected by the range setting. The hi/lo ranges only affect your axle speed. I haven't found any reference to the PTO speed ratios - that would be some good info to have if anyone knows where they might be...

I finally got back to this. Sorry - I don't have a video or pics, but I wrote this up in one post... We will start with the right foot: You have 2 brake pedals, a right and a left. Use one or the other to 'help you turn on a dime' or both together to stop. To the left of the brake pedals you...

I also have the L2000. As far as the gears and levers, I can walk you through those. I'll get something put together and post on here. As far as the 540 RPM PTO output, use 1st gear on the PTO (the left gearshift) and run the throttle at just a bit over 2000 RPM. There should be a '540' mark on...

    L2000/L225 Front Wheels...?

    L2000/L225 Front Wheels...?

Anyone have any contacts on where I might get a front wheel (new or used) for my L2000? It's a 4-hole pattern, tire size is a 12x4.00. My current one has rusted around the valve stem and is puncturing the tube. I'm working on a temporary fix but would really like to just replace it. I've been...

    L2000 / 225 steering box repair

I'm in the middle of replacing the bearings in the steering box. The question I have is what is the suggested method for getting the new bearing over the steering shaft? It won't just slide on. I've seen posts in various places on the 'net about disassembling the bearing cage and reassembling it...
