Straps! Can't live without them! Bungee cords are good, too.

But they can be a royal PAIN! Tangled just when you need them in a hurry, and always a mess.

I bought some new lightweight straps for my new (to me) pickup, and I wanted to find a way to end the strap madness. A tool bag from my local Big Box was part of the answer. The velcro ties on the end of each strap were another part of the answer. They work well to keep rolled straps rolled up.

But what a pain when you want to feed the straps through the ratchet! Especially in cold weather wearing gloves.

There had to be a way to keep them neat and get rid of those velcro ties!

Well, here it is. It's childishly simple. I socked them! Child's ankle socks. In this case, for the 4-6 age range. For larger straps... well, you can figure that out.

This works GREAT!

And there they are, snugly (and NEATLY!) nestled in their comfy tool bag. No more muss, no more fuss.

Ain't they cute? :D

Awesome Idea! And cute!
Black ones would hide the dirt that will eventually collect on them.
But you could just throw them in the wash, with fabric softener of course.

Great idea!
I got a couple of grandkids around that age; I'll have to steal some of their socks.

Got tired of constantly fighting with ratchet straps so bought these. Life got easier.
We got a set of those in the 1-1/2" size to tie down our Search and Rescue side by side. And had to quit using them because once they got dirt in them (driving down dusty roads) pushing that red tab to get them to release or to retract no longer worked. They refused to release at all so we had to cut them off.

I use ball bungees to hold mine together- both for storage and to keep excess strap from flying around.

Yep. Had the same experience. Too complicated. Great while they last, but they don't hold up.

I applaud the “idea” sir…….

However, my “reality” is a far cry from your idea.

Here is my “storage reality"

Kind of reminds me of this…….

For years I have used those rubber wrist bands- you know, the ones that advertise businesses and various social causes, to restrain ratchet straps.
I have found them at bin stores, estate sales, and garage sales.
And people have just given some to me, thinking I will wear them to support their cause, not knowing that they will never be used for that. :)
Last ones I bought from the bin store were these blue ones, 40 of them for $2.

And they last about two years here in the Phoenix area, and more like 5-7 up in the mountains.

I used to use rubber bands and they always failed. Now I use rubber intake gaskets like they use in cars. Can't remember which ones but I think 3.6 Dodge and some Hondas. Don't have picture right now.

These wrist bands are pretty stout compared to regular rubber bands.
