It figures that now that Everything Attachment's is out of business (sad and hard to believe) that I now need a hydraulic cylinder for it.
The 60” grapple (I love it) It uses a Grizzly Brand 2” x 5” cylinder, model # 107669A.
I just spent over an hour scouring the internet and hydraulic cylinder catalogs, including one from Dick Jones and Associates that sells Grizzly‘s, and I don’t see a 5” stroke ram ANYWHERE. 5” seems to be a real odd ball.
AgriSupply also seems to be a Grizzly dealer and has zero 5” stroke models.
Maybe a local hydraulic repair company can rebuild mine (snapped off upper yoke) by cutting down a longer 2” ram?
Uggggh!

Have the local hydraulic shop make you TWO new 2x5" cylinders, install them, keep the others 'just in case'.

5" is a 'custom' size, everyone seems to make them in 2" increments...4-6-8-10-.....

Sadly EA could have tweaked their design to use standard, off the shelf parts.

It'd be interesting to see IF a 6" stroker would work though.....

I thought they were off the shelf items. Website says they are 6’s.

Maybe some were the 6” stroke, but the ones me and my neighbor both have are definitely the 5”.
We both purchased our grapples 3 years ago.
Looking again at the the grapple info you posted it says “3rd hinge in center” (I don’t have) and 400 lbs (not mine!) That’s some other model.
We are talking the 60” and maybe 55” model here.
it would be interesting to know if a 6”stroke would work…

Any reason why 6" stroke cylinders wont work? Probably cheaper than one custom made cylinder.

Whats the retracted length center to center of the original cylinders?

have you asked your local dealer to source for you?

maybe I would think a ber665433 / 654436 / 656557 may all be good substitutes. They are good quality cyl marketed by New Holland and Case I think. Give them a look.
run somewhere about $900 clams in my parts but an interweb search i can find down around maybe $400 when somewhat beat up.

these are 2 x 5's and 2,500 psi cyl., most boneyards probably have them kicking around used as well.

The above specs are from this grapple. Is yours the long bottom?

I will check those part numbers.
Looking for off the shelf cylinders, I called two local fairly large hydraulic places near here and they both kind of laughed when I said 5” stroke.
900 clams is a lot, as I’m seeing tons of 2 1/2” x 6” Grizzly (same brand) for under $190. Even the larger /longer 3”x 8”’s are $125.

$900 is insane. $400 is merely rediculous.

agree... Messicks not cheap plus freight but when the OP is looking for something very very specific then the old saying ".... it is what it is" comes into play I guess.

now if more flexible then lots of less expensive options but seems to have his heart set on a 2 x 5 versus the common sizes stocked by rural farm suppliers etc...

Unicorns and Range Rovers can be expensive.

cheers

I dont believe he needs a Unicorn and if he actually did I'd suggest cutting a horn off a Guernsey.

How hard would it be to modify the lid to make it work with the more readily available 6" stroke cylinder? By work I mean retain the 36" opening listed in the specs. I have a Wicked 60" which uses the 6" stroke cylinder and it has an opening spec of 40".

Corollary

How much opening width do you lose with an aftermarket 6" cylinder?

Apologies for dropping the ball with this thread.
I ended up learning two options for folks that run into this problem of finding a 2”x5” cylinder for a 55” Wicked Grapple.
1) I talked with the manufacturer/ distributor for these Grizzly cylinders in North Carolina. Nice and helpful folks!
Model #107670A is the number needed to order from AgriSupply.
(800) 345-0169. $79.99 plus shipping.
This part number is NOT listed on their catalog page! It’s an odd ball.
2) Also, found a hydraulic shop near me that can replace the entire shaft and rebuild with new seals for about the same price.
