Three days ago, the tractor was running hot. I checked all fluids and clean radiator, everything ran OK now I’ve a REGEN light and engine won’t get hot enough for the REGEN light to stop flashing. Engine speed is up, outside temp is 55 degrees. Running tractor clearing debris and bucket work - no luck. Engine has 470 hours. All maintenance done on schedule.

Almost sounds like the thermostat might be stuck open. Will it warm up if you run the tractor under some kind of heavy load for a while.

Also could be a faulty temperature sensor. Maybe check or change that first?

You might let it run a while and check the radiator temperature with a IR measurement device. Forget the correct term...

More data you collect the better someone here will be able to help you.

What does your coolant temp gauge show?
Why do you think the engine is not getting warm enough to ReGen?

REGEN light continues to blink. Coolant temp gauge does move up a bit as tractor runs. Gauge appears to be working.

You need to get your dealer to connect Diagmaster to it and perform a Forced Manual Regen provided it is not at stage 5.

No “beeps” are present indicating a stage 5. Exhaust temp was 272, temp at water pump was 170, radiator temp was 67. Air temp is 56 here in Alabama.

If you really believe it simply isn’t getting hot enough…. place a sheet of cardboard in front of the radiatior to get the temp up.

RESOLUTION - little did I know (and guessing some others as well), the overflow tank on an L4701 can be full and your radiator can be bone dry. The temperature gauge does not read engine block temp. but will read ambient air inside an empty radiator. KTAC to the rescue; in addition to the hole in radiator, I have a slightly bent FEL and broke loader pin. Need to fix those pesky lock bars that keep coming unlocked. Found a video on it but open to any suggestions on anything better. Video:

It amazes me how I try to keep an objective mind and ask myself the right questions when I have a problem. And also when considering what someone else might be experiencing. AND miss the obvious first questions...

Seems like nobody considered asking you if you took off the radiator cap and saw fluid in there...

Sometimes we all miss the obvious...

Hope running the tractor with little fluid in the block did not cause any damage that is not apparent at the moment. At least you have the insurance if it did, be sure to document everything from this point forward, just in case...

Interesting they chose to put it in the radiator. Only on dirt bikes have I ever seen it there. It's like it was an afterthought.
