In our new home I have some need for a flail mower. Alongside the 600 or so foot driveway there is out of control vegitation growth. I am adverse to spraying it as there is a small waterway right next to it. Additionally most of the property is thick with overgrowth that I would like to clear and keep clear about 3/4 acre for the dogs. It seems a flail mower would be a good choice, especially one with hydraulic side shift.

Anyone have experience with this Woodmaxx?

I am happy with mine, it's definitely not a brush cutter, but will take up to about an inch diameter material without a problem. I have the hammer blades on mine. Mine is on an LX2610, I wish i had gone with the 78 inch model, I usually mow in low range and have never had a problem with the 19 pto hp that I have on the LX. I picked mine up at their headquarters. The shipping crate it comes in has a lot of good angle iron too!

Thanks for the reply!
I am interested in your comment "it's definitely not a brush cutter,". That is really my intended application. The area adjacent to the driveway and the woods space for the dogs needs to be initially cleared and then routinely maintained. I have no interest in using it for the lawn.

I was hoping it would handle material up to 1-1/2", at least. There are a lot of saplings in the woods and vines growing everywhere.

The offset is really necesssary for the driveway and I will also need to tilt it to match the grade. If not a flail mower then what?

It will do really good with the vines, for saplings like you describe mine tends to bend over and take all the branches off, but it doesn't cut the sapling off at the ground.

Your best bet might be to rent a rotary cutter or pay someone to do it initially, and then get the Flail mower to maintain it.
