Been having a small hydraulic oil leak since starting mowing this season. Thought it was the seal but traced the leak to the two top ROPS bolts. Tried to tighten the bolts but the bolts acted as if they were stripped. Unmounted the ROPS and this is what I found.

I'm thinking my best choice is to replace the axel. Any ideas where I might find a replacement ?

It wasn't much of a leak until I tried to tighten the ROPS bolts. I wish I would have left it alone.

Thanks, Frank

OUCH !!!!
I'd go online say to Kubota parts, get the part number for the axle, then google it, you might find a 'used tractor graveyard' that might have one...hate to think what the K price is(if they have it...)
Hopefully used on several tractors...NOT 'specific' to yours.
If(IF) you don't need ROPS, you could grind and weld the cracks, then some teflon tape/locktit sealer on the ROPS bolts .
I'm wondering HOW it got cracked ? Hitting a low height bridge with ROPS at highway speed ???

It might be worth looking up 007kubotaguy here on OTT.

He has many older L series parts. Your L2800 may be a little new, but worth a try.

About 5 years ago I was mowing the property line when I came across a 10" post oak leaning against another tree across the trail. I was moving right along probably at L3, forgot about the ROPS, ducked my head and hit hard enough to send me across the steering wheel. Thank God it pushed me out of the seat cause the post oak came down and crushed the fender and seat. I was lucky I wasn't crushed. But that was a long time ago.
I really don't need ROPS and never wear the seat belt anyway. I might have a chance to patch it up if I leave off the ROPS. Thanks.

Step one is what RCW said. If you strike out there, one of the other scrappers like All States Ag.

If not a new one isn't stupid money to save a machine. Must be a common item ... it's in stock.

I don’t really know where that crack goes but would seriously consider a replacement not any repair. That case supports (I think) the bearings that support the axle to the rear wheel which supports the tractor and any load on the tractor. I think you’re in for larger failures in the future if that crack propagates across the casting to make it weaker and more likely to flex.

Completely agree... it's already gone in 2 directions.

I think you actually may have prevented a possible catastrophic failure by not leaving it alone.

Thanks guys, good advise. I cleaned it all up now and have found the crack turns the corner and extends down the shaft about 2". I'm trying to find a used whole right side axle. The case part number is TC220-2731 and is available new for about $650 but I think that is the case only and not the oil seal, bearing or the shaft.
Good news is the old case will make a good grinder stand one day soon.

If you find the ENDS of the cracks, drill 1/8" 'relief holes', it won't keep getting longer. Then grind, cut the cracks, weld and it'll be 'ok'. Yes, another axle casting would be nice..but in the meantime weld would keep you 'up and running'

Bad idea.. no other way to put it. Besides supporting the weight of the tractor and any implements, it's holding that wheel in place when torque is trying to tear it off. It is also a ROPS mount. It appears to be cast iron.... there no way to weld it back to original strength and no way to be sure the crack didn't close back up where it can't be detected. "Up and running" doesn't come without risk.
