L1501 Never had any leaks prior. Hooked up 4' bushhog ran for 3hours in 90+ weather. After about an hour noticed small amount of fluid coming from gear shift boot. At end of work had a good bit more.

When lifting implement all the way up, the pump was straining but otherwise no problems when running. Checked fluid level with dipstick via the fluid add port. Have about 4 1/2 inches on dip stick. No noticeable water etc. Comments and suggestions are most welcome.

007 has it nailed!

Look underneath the seat area for a small pipe or on the side of the transmission. It probably looks like a question mark laying on it’s side, probably on the left side and can be unscrewed. Clean out the pipe with a piece of wire or something similar. Reinstall and problem should be fixed.

Also wanted to suggest that your fluid level may be high. You mentioned a dipstick at the fluid add port, but my L1501 does not have a dipstick. To check fluid level, mine has a level plug on the left side of transmission near the clutch foot pedal. If the fluid trickles out very slowly when I remove the plug then I am at the right level.

i know it's been almost a year but just now getting bush hog back on. Fluid came up through boot again and THEN I remembered your fix. Just got through cleaning the "question Mark pipe". Haven't run it yet but I'm sure that's the fix. The pipe WAS clogged. 007 you da man. THANKS
