Does anyone know the size and type/fitting of hydraulic hoses used on a B7800 front loader. Mine are in bad shape.

Easiest solution is to remove them one at a time and take them to your local hydraulic shop (or NAPA, etc) to have them made. If that's not feasible, take pics, make a diagram, mark them with different color paint pen, etc. before removal.

local shops are to costly, they are much cheaper online i just don't know what the sizes are. I take it that kubota dose not use the same size on all it's tractors.

They are probably 3/8" single wire hoses. This is one area where I use the best quality available as a failure of a hydraulic hose can be deadly. I had a couple of economic hoses made up years ago and within one year the outer rubber was all cracked.
Twenty years ago I had three short hoses made up for a log splitter that I built. I had no problem paying $200 for them as I am standing right beside them when operating the splitter.

Your local shop will supply new hoses that haven’t been shelf-life-compromised and will still be in business because of your patronization when you next have a hydraulic problem.

Having said that: The fittings used on hyd hoses can be a real problem when it comes to identification because no ”standard” was issued by whoever made YOUR loader...and WHEN your loader was made.

I THOUGHT my Kubota loader was JIC fittings....but it ended up that BSP hoses were used and those fittings did not include the required associated seals.... so I ended up losing ANOTHER week awaiting for backordered seals.

Support your local neighbor because it’s good for you also. ;)

Just take the hose to the shop and they will match all the parts and fittings.

Mention if you need any minor changes like length or angles

I just had my dump/curl hoses redone. It was $195 total for about 12' of Gates hose and 4 Parker 6-6 swivel fittings. Cut off and reused my steel lines.. additional 4 crimps there. Not unreasonable at all.

Those look like 1/2” JIC fittings with 1/2” hose. if You have a tractor supply or farm and home in your area, you can usually find a hose that is close to the right size. The only issue is they usually only have hoses with pipe fittings so you will have to also find the proper NPT to JIC fitting. They are not as clean looking, but sometimes you have to work with what’s available.

But, as already said, your best bet is take your existing hose with you to a shop to guarantee you get the correct set up.

I'm not going local. The prices i got over the phone where 5x times the price of online. They wanted $75 for a 17 inch hose.

Online it's $12.00 for Two-Wire Braided.

Compared to online that is not cheap.

On your JIC nut shown in the photo, is there a number 8 or 6 on the side opposite the "CL"? that will tell you that fitting size. Maybe just buy one adapter or fitting locally to confirm and then order. Just what I would try. I order a lot of hoses and fittings from surplus center.com

If it is for example JIC 8 on one end and 6 on the other they have adaptors for a couple bucks you can put one end to use their premade hoses. Hoses are available in mostly 6" intervals of length and it is us made hose lately. You can get for example a 3/8 hose with JIC 6 or JIC 8 on both ends but not one of each.

I don't see any numbers on the other side but it looks like 6B06C-FJ then there is 3 lines. surplus center is where i was looking.

We don't have a lot of places to go in WV that are local without driving for hours.

I crimp my own hoses on a regular basis..

FJ is female JIC swivel.

6B06 is probably 3/8 (06) hose x 3/8 (06) swivel which matches your ruler.

Two wire braided hose is going to be either R2 or R16. I prefer R16 because it is more flexible and has a tighter bend radius.

Generic R16 hose is less than $2 per foot.

Gates MegaFlex which has an even smaller bend radius is over $4 per foot

Parker, Aeroquip, etc can be even more.

Generic Weatherhead Type U FJX -0606 female swivel ends are $4 each. Gates MegaCrimp ends are $6.

Generic FJX90-0606 90 degree ends are about $10.25 each. MegaCrimp are essentially the same.

Twelve feet of R16 with 2 female JIC swivel ends = $32 + $10 assembly.

Those are all retail prices. A real hose shop is getting that for half my cost and charging 2X+ what I would.

You can buy that exact hose as a quality NRP Jones premade assembly from Surplus Center for $31 and change. Even with shipping at $20 for two hoses you can't beat Burdens prices or quality on hoses with FJX ends.

IMO emergencies are really the only time it makes sense to have hoses made locally. I can reccomend Discount Hydraulic Hose as an online source for custom made hoses at the same prices I quoted above. They turn orders around in 1-2 days and ship Fedex or USPS. Not affiliated - just a long time satisfied customer.

Chris83, I just measured inside the nut on a jic 6 and it is about .519 and the jic 8 is about.69 with a recently new digital HF caliper if that helps you identify wither it is 6, 8 , or larger. I measured the od of the male JIC 8 part and it is about .749- .750.

What is the JIC 8F, 6F and so on?
JIC stands for Joint Industry Council and their hydraulic fitting standard is defined by SAE publication J514. The standard specifies a 37 degree cone and seat sealing surface held together with UNF screw threads.

Fittings come in a variety of "dash" sizes with the most commonly used sizes on tractors being -04, -06, -08, -10, -12, and -16. The dash size is the corresponding tube/hose size in 1/16ths of an inch. For example a -06 fitting is used with 6/16th (3/8) tube and hose.

JIC fittings are commonly available with female swivel ends making it easy to make hose and tube connections. A 6F fitting identifies a fitting with a -06 female swivel, 8F would be a -08 female swivel and so on.

JIC-6 is 9/16 UNF thread and 11/16" wrench across flats.

JIC is 3/4 UNF thread and 7/8" wrench across flats.

They may not be available for yours, but I found the hoses for my tractor were about as cheap from the Kubota dealer. I let them ship with their regular order to save shipping charges.
