The tractor shop says there is nothing wrong with it. They mowed with it for 1/2hr and it restarted ok. I get it back and it does the same thing it's done for the last year, runs fine no matter how hot it is and for as long as I leave it running but if I turn it off it won't restart until it cools down. No issues all winter, I could snow blow for two hours, turn it off and restart it, no problem. I've made sure the radiator and screens are clean and fluids are checked. I need specific suggestions because this shop has always needed to be told specifically what to do. Thanks.

When you describe a problem as "WONT RESTART" you should clarify if the engine cranks or does not as it helps to focus any advice that might be offered.

The engine does not crank. Thanks.
Sounds like you may have a problem with contacts in the safety circuit used to prevent starting if something like the PTO is activated or the directional pedal is not centered.

Never heard of this well known issue being temperature related but it could be.

Do you get a clicking sound when you try to start, but no starter motor turn over?

If so you may need to install an interposing relay between the safety circuit and the starter solenoid.

Tell us more.

Disconnect the trigger wire from the starter solenoid.

Use a 12 volt test light to see if any power gets to the test light when you turn the key to start.

If power does flow in the start position, you are likely a candidate for the relay Henro mentioned.

This link contains instructions on the installation.

When it won't start I leave it to cool down and when I return I don't touch anything but the starter and it starts right up. I have had some apparent starter issues and this sounds like it might be the issue. I'll let you know if it works. Thanks! PS Brad's article above is awesome. I might even be able to do this by myself. :)
