Okay, kind of a trick question...cause I already have it exposed.
I have my B1750 split and the flywheel off and am looking at the rear oil seal on the engine.

It doesnt appear to be leaking, but I probably will not find myself in this position again :D...well, I hope not anyways

Has anyone on here done a rear main oil seal on their kubota?

Part of me doesnt want to disturb it, but another wants me to do a good job.

Do these seals rarely leak?
thoughts?

Yeegh it's nasty in there. How was the clutch working with all that garbage?

Anyway do it. It's easy as can be. Looks like yours doesn't even have the lock tabs mine does. Take those bolts out and then thread two bolts in the holes that are currently empty to force the seal housing off. Drift out the old oil seal, push in the new, scrape and replace the gaskets and you're done. Here's mine. Post 14. Make sure the area is clean before you open it up and check your parts diagram, there may be two gaskets that need to be replaced.

interesting, so that plate is just there to hold the rear main seal in place?
so I assume you mean the plate has some gaskets, and then the oil seal itself...I'll make sure I order all of them from the dealer.
okay, well I'm doing it then.
I'll post pics and progress...thx

Pretty much, the plate is also what keeps the rear main bearing in place. You'll find the bearing will spin fairly easily with the plate removed. Another thing I forgot is you should clean any rust off the end of the crankshaft (the flywheel flange) lest it tear the new oil seal. You can do this before or after removing the plate just make sure you keep particles out of the engine. Yes the plate has (well mine did) two gaskets, one on the bearing and one on the block.

I really appreciate the tips!
nice to talk with somebody who has done it already.
On monday I'll order the seal/gaskets and then post up pics of my progress on my build thread over in tractor operating.
thanks!
