Just as the title says. I found myself removing and reinstalling 3 others over the summer issue free and this one snapped on my $500 G5200.

It looks to be made of aluminum so drilling out what is left and then re tapping the hole seems like the cleanest way. I am waiting on the part to come in so I can get the thread pitch for a tap and also the correct diameter drill bit. It won't be pretty so I am planning on using some teflon paste so seal things up.

My advice to anyone else who runs into one of these that doesn't flow; try drilling or picking out the crud first. A cap to keep mowing debris out of the opening may help too.

I was lucky with my G5200 with D600 engine. I KNEW that petcock has a tendency to get internally corroded so I took precautions.

In the end, I was able to free-up the engine petcock and perform a full engine/radiator acid-flush. Then followed with TWO fill/rinse with distilled water before refilling with fresh antifreeze.

BTW: I found using a gas-powered leaf-blower is GREAT at purging every last drop from the cooling-system between drain-n-fill.

Hey Guys:

I'm working on a G2160 with a D782E 3 cylinder diesel engine, the coolant drain petcock rotted and was leaking. (Big surprise as it's aluminum in an iron block ) Luckily I got it out but can't identify the threads, I have the WSM but it's not listed. It "might" be 1/4"NPT but since it's mostly metric I'm not sure of this, and I can't even tell if it's a taper thread or a flange seat on the end of the fitting. The closest metric I can figure is 14x1.25 or 14x1.5 but there's not really enough threads left to be sure. I want to run a tap in the hole to clean the grunge out and obviously it's important to have the correct thread. The picture is the petcock and a 1/4" pipe nipple for comparison.

Any help is appreciated!

I used an expanding rubber plug. I just replace it when I change the coolant

Here's my update to this thread.

See if the part for you tractor is the same as mine to determine the thread pitch.

Sorry dlundblad, but your a little off on the threads.

Fluid fittings are not Metric, they can be BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) or NPT (National Pipe thread).

Kubota used a BSPT thread, but because of the size and the only slight difference in the threads a 1/4-18 NPT will also fit and with pipe dope will seal.

I think you quoted the wrong person.
I didn't find a thing online about this so I figured it was worth posting up in more detail. Mine ended up snapping off from the block when I tried removing it during a coolant change.. So lesson learned, use a drill bit, long pick etc. before resorting to removal.

P/n is 15841-73020. About $9 for the Kubota part.
Thread pitch is 1/4"-18 NPT.

This should apply to any G3200 to the G6200 as well as the next generation G1800, 1900 etc. Hope this helps someone.

No it was you that said that it was 1/4"-18 NPT.
It's actually 1/4"-18 BSPT. ;)

Gotcha. You said they weren’t metric, which I never stated. I must have misunderstood.

If you say NPT is close, then I guess we’re good enough then right?

If these are that prone to corrosion and failure, I'd be on my way to the nearest Fleetpride or big truck shop for a brass replacement.

Yea sorry, the metric part was for the other poster that said it was a metric thread.

NPT in this case is "ok", where the oil fitting is 1/8" BSPT, and it is not acceptable to use a NPT fitting as it will leak! ;)
