I have a B7100HST 4wd and am having problems with the HST foot pedal. It is very loose with away too much play. This just started late last fall, so I put her away for the cold months. The tractor still does fwd and reverse but does not go back to neutral position when I take my foot off the pedal, and sometime when starting up, when I release the clutch pedal I do not know if she will go in fwd or reverse...
I have printed out the WSM and checked all through several times, but have not found a solution. My grandson tells me it is the clutch, the 4 clutch parts in the US are $235. or so, but in Canada they are $465. When I was young the clutch went on my old Ford car and she would not move any more. The B7100 still drives and moves back and forth so I do not know if it is the clutch. I am an 83 yr old garlic farmer and I hate to break this machine and find it is some other problem altogether. Can anyone come up with a solution?
Many thanks, Dick W

Thanks!!! this looks like it is almost the same problem as I have.
It is still too cold up here in Eastern Canada to get at this so I am going to find a warm workshop with tools right quick...

Anyone else have any solutions?

What a great site for old guys like me.

Here is the what I found on my own B7100 HST-D:

First, make sure the pedal shaft is adequately greased via the zerk on the shaft. If that is not sufficient, then there is an adjustment that is not described in either the WSM or Owner's manual. (You can find the WSM here).

Remove the cover over the HST filter and you will find a threaded rod with two lock nuts on the starboard side of the filter. That rod is connected to the top of the pedal centering spring. You will need two 17 mm wrenches and a 10mm wrench.

Lift the rear wheels off the ground with the tractor in 2wd (so you can test without pulling the tractor off the jack stands!). Loosen the locknut. Hold the rod with the 10mm wrench while tightening down the lower nut to raise the rod and hence apply more tension to the spring, until there is just enough tension to ensure the pedal returns to the centre position reliably every time. Re-tighten the lock nut.

Now, if the tractor develops a tendency to creep in one direction no matter which way you were travelling, there is another adjustment. That one IS documented in the HST version of the WSM. You can find that on page 211 (of the PDF, it's page S 3-4 on paper) so I won't bother repeating it here. You will need a 12mm socket, a 10" long extension and a long screwdriver to make the adjustment around all the levers and foot board.

Further to my request for info on the HST foot pedal problem I have found the enclosed "Control Linkage" diagram and explanation of the parts for a different modet Kubota. Does anyone know if the my B7100 HST has a similar setup? And, if it has how do I get to that part of the machine?

That setup is different from the B7100. Please read my post, above. The adjustment you want is under the same cover as the HST filter, right between your legs under the steering wheel. Remove that cover and you will see the adjustment bolt I mention.

Sequel to the B7100 HST foot pedal problem

Well finally the weather cleared up here in Eastern Canada.
When I removed the cover over the Hydraulic filter, I found that the parts of the shaft were loose and floppy, and determined from WSM that there were shims or bushings in there and ordered 3 new ones and a worn rubber part. Then, from a friend, I found that there was a retired gentleman around here who used to work in a tractor repair place in Ontario. I was just told he was a midget and drove around on a 3 wheel tricycle. I found him at a local coffee shop!

Well... he went right to it and was small enough to get his hands through the top and bottom aperatures to replace the parts. We also determined that the "cemtering spring" was unhooked. After several hours of listening to the swearing and passing him tools he called out for, my new little friend Laurie put her back together jacked up the rear wheels and... she worked!!!

While he was here, he also removed, freed-up and re-installed the throttle cable on my old Kubota GF1800 which was giving us problems.

Here are jpegs of the problem areas for the foot pedal problem. Opps! don't know if these went or not
Many thanks for all the suggestions and help!
Sorry for the long post.
