Snowblower Front mount or rear PTO - Thoughts?

OK, I have a B3000 with a Meteor drag snowblower. Made in Canada, three point hitch, but it faces forward, so you just drive along through the snow. This allows the loader on front to be used as needed. I have turf tires and ice pick chains. I also have the cab model, so I stay warm and dry...

    Any Sawmill owners?

Ed Hill's Shade-Sawn Lumber: I am a retired forester, so I thought it would be interesting to sawtopsy trees. I bought a used Wood-mizer LT-15 with the 12 volt feed. A nice unit, though I found I broke several blades before I learned to properly secure the logs on the frame. I searched for and...

    Backhoe storage and outriggers

I have had a backhoe for 8 years. I put two concrete pavers under the frame, I lift the unit off the tractor frame with the leveling legs, pull the tractor slightly forward, then lower the whole backhoe so it rests on the concrete. Then I shut off the tractor, disconnect the hydraulic lines...

    b6200 hydraulic help

From my experience, if the hydraulic pump is original, you may need to replace the entire pump rather than just the seal. I replaced a seal but the next year, the pump. I traded the tractor, so I don't know how it held up.

    B2400 tire sizes

My understanding is that the circumference relationship between the front and rear tires is the critical element, not tread patterns. I would suspect that sidewall strength might be an issue in things like woods work, but for light yard use, it shouldn't matter. If you put non-standard tires on...

    Getting rid of BAMBOO

My father spent the last 15 years of his life trying to eradicate a patch of Japanese Knotweed (AKA bamboo). He pulled it up. He burned it over. He covered it with second hand metal roofing. When he died, there was more than when he started. I do not beleive it can be stopped without careful...

    loader settles while engine running

My B1750 has the same problem. When I am mowing the lawn, I have to watch to keep the bucket from hitting. I line the cross bar with the top of hte hood. In a couple of passes, it will gradually drop several inches, and has to be adjusted up. I have no visible leaks, and assume the o-rings in...

    Aftermarket Cab Options

I am not sure what either one cost, as I bought both tractors used. My B 1750 has a Sims cab with a metal roof and glass windshield and plastic sides and back which are removed for summer. This works well as the top provides some shade and the air flows through well with the sides off. The L4330...

    tractor or diesel ATV

For what it is worth, I too am in Vermont. I have a 650 foot gravel driveway and about 5 acres of lawn. I burn wood for heat. I have a Kubota RTV1100 for plowing snow with a Meyer Drive-Pro plow, and for moving wood. I have a Kubota B1750 with turf tires for mowing and sanding. I also have a...

    Homemade Frontlifter (3ph)

Nice Job, Carl! Ingenious the way you can go from an idea to the actual project. I can do this sometimes with wood, but really admire you fellows who can do this with metal and hydraulics.

    Today's Challenges

Update: B1750: ice in fuel filter. Cleaned out and installed new filter. L4330: advice: don't force the joystick, wait until the oil is warmed up. I broke the control cable right off. Oops!

    Today's Challenges

Update: No change on L4330 loader. Still goes up but will not come down. Backhoe works, loader bucket curls OK. Dealer suggested ice in spool valve but it is above freezing this morning and I ran a propane torch over the cap to the valve and water on the outside evaporated so presumably ice on...

    Today's Challenges

Two problems: L4330 with Woods 1012 loader; loader will go up but takes almost forever to come back down. Manual suggests faulty hose connection but disconnecting and reconnecting resulted in only one functional restoration and then the same problem recurred. Question: should I look at the...

Why does this happen on a long weekend?

I have in the past been confounded by equipment that would not start, and it generally turned out to be a loose battery connection. I suggest that you remove and clean both battery terminals and while you have them off, check the ground connection to be sure it is tight. More than once I had...

To fuel or not to fuel

Here's the thing: the oil company who sold you the oil would likely be happy to pump it out and pay you for it. The only difference between off road diesel and highway diesel is the dye added for identification. This causes a lot of confusion. Kerosene is not the same as #2 diesel, nor is...
