    Broke on Sunday?

Ok, the blower is a BX2750D, serial number 21218069. Not sure how old it is because the tractor and blower were bought used. It has worked well till now and has broken shear pins when they should have sheared and has also broken them for no reason at all. Here are some pics of the damage.

    Broke on Sunday?

This is an older snowblower, seen quite a few years of use, so maybe the shaft just fatigued. Anyway, it came apart by just forcing the transmission halves apart (very carefully) and the shaft slid out of the bearing and seal on the right hand side. From there, getting the rest apart was fairly...

    Broke on Sunday?

I am trying to split the transmission and have about 1/4" space in between the halves and now see that the right hand seal and bearing on the auger shaft are pulling into the case. Do I keep on going, or is there a snap ring of some type holding the seal onto the shaft. There seems to be a...

    Broke on Sunday?

Of course, that is when things break, on days when nothing is open. We're talking about a 2750 snowblower which was operating perfectly when suddenly the augers quite, no warning, no catastrophic shock or nothing. Initially the thought was shearing pins but the auger shaft spins freely without...

    Lift arm ball replacement.

Did the ball fall out because of wear in the socket on the arm, or did the ball just break? If it fell out, you could place the ball back in the socket and then build up the socket edges with a Mig welder, or with an oxy/acetylene set. Did that to a JD 710 years ago, and it is still in place and...

Shear bolt fixing BX2750D and questions

If your shear bolts are deforming before or while shearing, then the bolt being used is not performing as a shear bolt should. The sheared face should be a nice clean shear and the bolt left inside the shaft should just drop out when the holes are aligned. OEM shear bolts should work well, but I...

    correct snowblower operational sequence

Try raising and lowering the snowblower without the pto engaged and check that the pto shaft linkage is not binding when fully down or in danger of falling apart from being slightly too short when fully lifted. If your setup is like mine (a 2750 front blower on a BX23) there should be very...

    Tightening Loader Bucket Bolts?

The nuts appear to be lock nuts so there is no danger of them backing off the bolt. All the bolts do is hold the pin in place and keep it from rotating. So leaving as is, or tightening both work.

    Shear pin misery

Happy new year to all. I have been more or less lurking on this forum for some time, picking up all kinds of helpful fixes and mods for the BX23. One thing that caught my attention was that some folks are having trouble specifically with the 2750 snowblower shear pin replacement and this...

Spoke too soon....B6200 oil seal leak

I had a similar experience with a Troy rototiller leaking oil from the axle seal. With the new seal in place, there was no leakage while that axle was jacked up, but as soon as it was let down, the leak started. It took me another seal replacement to finally clue in the the bearing sleeve was...

BX2750D Snowblower + Electric Chute Deflection?

Just a note of caution with the chute deflector linear actuator. Mounting it upside down (ram facing downward) keeps the snow from settling and freezing the ram to the cylinder. You will have to make allowances for the electrical wire moving a little every time you change your deflector setting.

    Hydraulic quick disconnect O rings

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I will take them out and run them down to the not so local hydraulic shop for replacement.

    Hydraulic quick disconnect O rings

I recently removed the backhoe from my BX23 and reconnected the hoses at the back, to complete the hydraulic circuit. However, oil is weeping from the quick disconnects, where they are joined, and I assume the Oring and backing ring in the female QD need to be replaced. After spending quite a...

    Getting worried about my purchase.

I experienced the same worries back in 08 when a goldwing was to be in my future. The forums mentioned so many problems that it almost didn't happen, and this is one of the most dependable bikes out there. Well, that was some time ago, and in that span of time there have been zero problems. With...

    Oil pressure Gauge install B7100

Re: Oil pressure install B7100 I agree with D2cat that the electric sending units do not seem to live up to expectations as far as longevity goes, but when a plastic tube springs a leak, after a couple of years, you're not really monitoring it that closely any more, and these leaks are slow and...

    Oil pressure Gauge install B7100

Re: Oil pressure install B7100 I did this type of installation on a 4wd Case loader tractor many years ago, with the oil pressure gauge being supplied with a plastic tube. It worked well for a long time, until the day a friend was helping, using this tractor to disk, and not noticing that the...

    What is this wire?

Two questions actually. This is for a BX23. There is a wiring harness overtop of the motor and coming out of it is a double white wire terminating in a single terminal connector. Any ideas what it does, it isn't hot with the key on or off. Secondly, when checking the oil level in the front axle...
