ZG20 zero turn cranking problems

Agter after mowing an acre field I stopped to fuel up and the mower would not crank back up but I’m also hearing the starter kicking in and kicking out how do I get my mower started again

Sure sounds like a poor electrical connection which is aggravated by heat. It could also be that your alternator is not charging the battery. Less likely to be starter which gets weak when heated by the engine.

I would use voltmeter and do VOLTAGE DROP measurements to isolate the issue.

Most likely culprits:
  • GROUND (battery minus to engine)... The fat black wire
  • POSITIVE (battery plus to starter) ... The fat red wire directly to the starter

I agree with Bruce but suggest you start a bit more basic. Remove cables from battery. Clean battery terminals and connectors thoroughly. This could even be a good time to have the battery load tested. Reinstall cables on battery and tighten. If you can move them they're too loose. Follow ground lead to frame. Clean and tighten securely. I'd start the actual troubleshooting knowing battery and connections are good. Then again, if the problem is solved no further troubleshooting is required.
