I see others have paired the WC68 with the L2501. So I ordered that one instead of the smaller one thinking it was only $200 more and I am only going to be doing mostly 3" or smaller stuff but it would handle bigger if needed or I change tractors. Probably not going to happen as I like the L2501 and I'm getting older faster than I thought.

So I ordered last Monday and it arrived yesterday and I have been slowly assembling it. I have it on the back of the 8N just to move around while the backhoe is on the kubota. It is about all that the 8N wants to pick up with my added on hydraulics and some front counter weight.

I cut my own firewood every year and we walk on trails in the woods with the dogs about half a dozen times a day.
My thinking was this would clean up the branches and turn them into chips for the muddy areas of paths.
Gives me something else to do in my spare retirement time. Lots limbs fall during storms too.

Anyone else who put this chipper on an L2501 remember how much they trimmed the pto shaft? I am not using a quick hitch of any kind.

Got it all together and the 8n was doing OK moving the weight so I took it out for a try with that. It worked well with the 2-1/2 to 3 inch or smaller I ran thru it. Didn't have a lot of time as I had an appointment to get to today.

I had a short shaft from another project with the same size u-joints.I pressed out the ones on the shear bolt end from the WM shaft and installed that. So I haven't cut the WM one yet and will wait till I have the BH77 off. The short one I have might fit that.

One plus was the WM68 comes with 2 top link holes so I was able to use my hydraulic assist system I have on the 8N to raise it without the pto spinning if you know how they work.

My thinking now is if the 8N works with the smaller stuff I should be able to gather stuff with the kubota and grapple. I will try to get a couple pictures tomorrow.

Hey Bill,
Just bought the same chipper for my 3301. We're on the same chassis.... Did you have to trim the shaft? Thx, Sam

Hey Sam,
Sorry to say I haven't put this on my L2501 yet. I am doing my firewood now and have the backhoe off and intended to try it for fit in the next couple of weeks to see if the shaft that came with it would fit. It was working on the 8N pretty good and I trimmed the shaft for that, hoping it would work with the L but figured I would have to get another if it is too short. I had to trim mine for the 8N because the one I cobbled together was just a hair too short and I raised it up one time with it stopped and when I lowered it, I bent it at the sliding part.

I would love to try it today just to answer your question but unfortunately I can't. I am scheduled for hand surgery this morning and will be out of commission for a while. It was supposed to be in march but they had a cancellation I asked if I wanted to move up. I have been cutting the last few days trying to get my wood done.

I had hoped someone else would answer this question when I asked it but you are the only one to reply.

I have done a couple things to improve it for my purposes. I modified a jack to push back the cutter head when it gets a jam and stalls. I then improved that and made a hydraulic ram ram attachment for it so I can move the cutter head and clear a jam in just a minute after powering down the PTO.
I took some pictures of this and will try to get some posted while I am recovering.
Again hopefully someone else may be able to answer our question and post.

Thanks Bill,
It's gonna be a spring thing for me but I'll report back then with my outcome. I have the pats quick hitch adapters too. All the best with the hand surgery.

Thanks Sam,
If you have the pats quick hitch then we wouldn't be cutting to the same length but I would be interested in hearing about your progress using it and any problems you might have in use.
One thing I learned quite quick is to only feed the brush holding it on your right side as it makes it swing to the right when it first engages the cutter head. You get swatted if you don't!
