Won't stay running once warm

Newbie here. I work with a friend of mine doing tree service and our Kubota that we often use runs fine when the engine is cold, but once it is warm it begins to run very rough, and once it is completely heat soaked it is really tough to keep it running at all. I can't remember exactly which model it is, but I'm pretty sure it's a mid 90's or so L2900 with a 3 cylinder diesel. I can't get a hold of him right now to confirm year/model/engine. Just wondering where we might start looking to get the issue resolved, as we depend on it to assist us on many jobs and for general use around our lot. Thanks in advance!

Agreed fuel filter would be the first thing I'd look at here, sounds like a starvation issue. Though certainly can't rule out a thermal problem. I'd also drain some of the fuel out of your tank, crud and water tend to settle to the bottom. Give that a whirl.

Similar problem with M4030. Dealer suggested possible fuel contamination or fuel filter. Tank drain, line clean (with pressurized air), and new fuel filter (old filter had black crud in it) seems to have fixed problem. Apparently not really a heat (warm) issue as I thought just that after a period of 15-30 minutes it becomes starved for fuel.

One more thing to check is the rubber fuel lines they get warm and collapse and no fuel.

Check your tank vent lines too to make sure she can get air in the tank to displace the fuel being sucked out.
