Hello all,

Quick question: Has anyone services their voltage regulator? I have been doing a lot of research and some regulators need the field charged and some need the "points" cleaned. What I can't find is if the kubota VR needs either one of those services. My alternator is tested and working well but my charging voltage is low.

Thank you in advance.

Depending on age of machine, its likely you have a regulator with a solid state regulator. Low voltage could be a bad ground ,be it a cable, body or regulator ground or a sign of a failing battery. Minimum voltage is 1 volt above battery voltage. Example-before starting battery is 12.6 volts. You need 13.6 to call charging system good. Ambient temperature is relevant to charging as well. My truck breaks 15 volts when first started on a -20 morning.

Thanks Tooljunkie, cleaning all of the grounds is something I still need to do. I currently am not one volt above my off voltage. The tractor is a 1990 but I don't know about the regulator

I pulled mine off, found evidence of arcing, and replaced it with a solid state unit.
