Upgrade Arkson Fuel Transfer Tank

I’ve had the 30 gal fuel transfer tank since 2020 and the hose that comes with it is no longer flexible. Questions to the group, does anyone have this tank and what have you done? An electric pump, hose and nozzle is around $325. Replacement fuel hose is $80 for 20’. 1” ntp threads both ends. No nozzle on end. The nipple off the crank pump is 1/2”id. Threads look to be 1”. Not sure if ntp or something else. So I’d love to get some ideas before I drop some coin. I like the fact with the current pump I can run it backwards and suck out transfer containers. What have you done?

Check HF for pump and hose with nozzle, I dont know your tank , I made one from a blue plastic drum and a HF pump,, works like a champ

I'm still working on mine. I got a 50 gallon Aluminum Hydraulic Tank used on a Dump Truck, with a pull-down Hand Pump. New 3/4" hose, no-twist connectors, tank straps, cradle, etc. I'm making it so I can lift with the FEL into my trailer.

That's what I did with a 12V HF pump. I was tired of hoisting 5 gallon cans of diesel to fill the tractor. When I had a chance to salvage 100 gallons of home heating oil where an oil burner was being replaced with an LP furnace, I added a second barrel and bought a second pump on Amazon (so the original could stay in the first barrel). Recently I was able to find another free 55 gallon drum. Had 168 gallons of treated offroad delivered Friday That should last 1-1/2 to 2 years.

John, if the only problem is the hose, why not get a replacement hose, and then figure out adapting it to your equipment?

I’d guess you’d want to get a better handle on the size/thread of your current setup.

Mixing SAE/metric could be an issue.

That is correct. The hose is the current issue. I’ll unthread that hose connector and take it to the hardware store to have them check that thread for me.

Mowed today and snapped a pic while in the shed. The pump nearest the door has the pump that will remain in the barrel. Its hose and wiring reach outside to do the filling. Both tractors and the generator have 12V connectors so they can self-fuel outside.

The loose pump is just hanging there to transfer fuel between barrels (or go rescue another tank of fuel if the need arises).

For the longest time an old sock over the nozzle was what kept stuff out of it. Today I remembered to take an empty pill bottle along for a cap.

Here’s the replacement. I took the threaded nipple off the pump to the HW store hoping they could get me from a fine thread (metric) to a 1” NPT but no luck. I ordered up 10’ of fuel transfer hose, and fabbled up the replacement. The nozzle was just some 3/4” aluminum pipe that had a compression fitting to hold the old hose. Cut it off with a hacksaw and used a couple pipe clamps to hold in place. No leaks either end and I’m back in business with a flexible fuel hose. I also took the opportunity to get rid of all the teflon tape they used and replaced it with fuel rated thread sealer. Now to get my boy to go fill the transfer cans up for winter.
