transmission fluid check

I have an L2800 with clear window to check the fluids.
However; it is not apparent if it is complete full or empty.
Is there an easy way to check short of draining the fluid?

You can try parking on a slight slope to see if the fluid shows up. After changing my HST tranny fluid I over filled it because I couldn't tell if it was full or not. I had to drain some out.
