Throttle lever is VERY tight.

Over the past year, the throttle handle has gotten harder and harder to move. The tractor is only a year old. I am not at the location where the tractor currently is, but plan on being out there in a couple of weeks.

Where should I start to explore to find out where the tightness is coming from? Should I start near the throttle body, or more toward the dashboard where the handle is mounted?

FWIW, My 2501’s throttle has always been “pretty stiff”, and since I don’t use it everyday, sometimes it “seems like” it is harder than other times…..but I think it’s just "in my head”????

I think they need to be stiff due to the vibrations they incur.

However; the terms “pretty stiff” and “harder and harder” are difficult to “quantify” so theres that too….


EDIT: I will say this: When my grandson jumps on the tractor, he just "yanks that bitch” and is off like a rocket…….

Never messed with it but looking at the parts breakdown I would probably start at the accelerator rod. Disconnect it and see if the lever is still hard to move. If it is (my guess) the problem is in the lever assembly. In that case lube would seem to be in order.
