I have a Kubota TG1860G garden tractor that my father bought in 2003. I inherited it in 2018. It's in good condition, with about 400 hours on it. It has a Kawasaki FD590V-E508 Liquid Cooled gas engine.

It has an intermittent stalling problem. Sometimes after about 1/2 hour first couple of lawn cuts in the season, then might be good for the rest of the season. Coolant and oil levels are OK. Don't think it's a seizing problem. It doesn't leak or use any fluids. I'm in Ontario Canada. I put it away for the winter with fresh ethanol free fuel, with a stabilizer. When it's cold, it starts right up. Might be OK, or it might stall on me. If it's stalled, I have to let it cool before it wants to re-start.

I have a full set of workshop manuals. I've gone through the electrical diagram, and checked the wiring. Everything seems OK. Manual does not have any details of the 'Kubota Reverse Awareness System' which will stop the engine if you try to reverse with the PTO engaged. Once you press the button and it's flashing, you can reverse with the blade PTO engaged, and it doesn't stop the engine. When the engine stops intermittently, it's almost like the KRAS system is cutting out the ignition. But it could be a fuel issue.

I think that my father had this problem for years before I got it. He's had the Carburetor off checking the fuel side. I've checked for Carb rebuild kits, or a new carb, but nothing seems to be available in Canada. I've replaced the fuel line a few years ago which was deteriorated due to Ethanol. I've checked for gas cap venting, and it seems OK.

Any common problems with this model? Any suggestions on where to look? Is there a way to check the gas cap vent?
