I have a Kubota L2900(90something) and the temp guage reads hot pretty quick. Bought a temp gun(?) and have checked when it reads hot. But it reads consist. 150 degrees. Thermostat rated @ 180. I shoot 3 areas, motor itself, thermostat area, actual hose and radiator and nothing is reading anything that would warrant overheating. Could it be the temp. guage on tractor? Any advise as to what it might be? Thanks

Check the wires on gauge and follow down to sending unit. Bet you have a short somewhere. Or like you said, the gauge is bad.

Your temp gauge is an old style using a separate voltage regulator #1 in schematic below. At this time I am not certain if this regulator is separate from the main instrument panel.

Remove the sensor from the engine block and place in a pot of water. Connect a multi meter to it while slowly raising the water temp.

Compare values to those below:

The gauges in the panel can be checked following this procedure.

Start by following Matt Ellerbee's suggestion. Next, either test or replace the sensor in the block.
